Toronto''s new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service. ROLE OVERVIEW The Utilities Superintendent is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the project. The role is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination and execution of all the utility infrastructure of the project. Responsible for the allocation of resources, equipment and subcontractors to ensure that the project construction target and deadlines are successfully met within schedule and budget while maintaining a high level of quality, safety and environmental standards. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise the installation and construction of all the utility infrastructure, including, water, stormwater, gas, communications and electrical systems. Ensure and verify compliance of all Health and Safety standards, internal policies, codes and regulations that might be applicable for specific works. Ensure adherence of the environmental and quality project specifications. Supervise and direct in house and subcontractor workers on site. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Proactively participate in safety weekly inspections, safety stand downs and toolbox talks. Oversee all on-site activities, including coordinating trades, materials, and equipment. Maintain accurately daily and weekly logs, job site reports, including records of any safety incident ensuring compliance with OSHA and other requirements. Coordinate with project managers, architects and engineers to address and resolve any site related issues. Schedule and coordinate with subcontractors and other project departments. Help identify cost-saving opportunities while maintain the required quality standards. Foster positive relationships with clients and ensure their expectations are met or exceeded. Facilitate effective communication between all project stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Address and rectify any deficiencies or non-compliance issues promptly. Attend to regular project meetings and provide progress reports to the team. Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that milestones are met. Plan and coordinate material deliveries and equipment usage to minimize downtime. Adjust project plans and schedules as necessary to accommodate changes and unforeseen issues. Report project status and any issues to the General Superintendent. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for project closeout. SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management or as a Site Superintendent. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in construction software and tools.
