As an Associate, Performance you will be responsible for investment performance measurement, monitoring, and reporting activities of CPP Investments. You will ensure that performance returns, benchmark returns, and performance attribution are calculated correctly by ensuring that analytical reviews, reasonability checks and established processes are completed and followed in accordance with CPP Investments Policies, Standards, Guidelines, and Procedure. Accountabilities: Ensure that analytical reviews, reasonability checks and established processes outlined in CPP Investments Procedures are completed and followed. Prepare performance reports for investment groups and Management, conduct thorough analysis on performance results, explain performance results, investigate discrepancies, and bring issues to resolution. Develop tests and automate control checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information being used to calculate performance benchmark and attribution results. Develop User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing plans in partnership with stakeholders for the execution of performance system upgrades and process changes up and downstream to performance processes. Assist in the development of new performance metrics to meet performance monitoring needs of stakeholders and internal committees. Prepare timely performance reports, including highlighting any insights, for scheduled and ad-hoc reporting commitments with a high degree of quality and accuracy. Provide performance Subject Matter Expertise in cross-functional projects and initiatives by identifying issues, assessing implications, recommending solutions, and proactively managing tasks and timelines. Communicate performance results to stakeholders effectively and actively participate in various discussions. Develop and foster effective working relationships with other departments of CPP Investments. Minimum Requirements: Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business administration, or applied mathematics with a strong appetite for quantitative analysis. 5+ years of relevant experience. Relevant professional designation or progression toward one (such as CFA, CIPM, CA, CMA, FRM). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Advanced knowledge of Python with a focus on analytical packages (e.g., Pandas, Numpy) is considered an asset. Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.). Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Amazon Web Service, QuickSight, and SimCorp Dimension is considered an asset. Understanding of performance measurement and performance attribution methodologies (i.e. time-weighted vs. dollar-weighted returns, arithmetic vs. geometric attribution, multi-currency & fixed-income attribution) is an asset.
