About the Role At an exciting time to join the Score Group team, we are seeking a proactive HR Advisor to support activities. Based in the Edmonton, Alberta office and reporting to the HR Manager, Americas, the incumbent plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and compliant operations of Human Resources in Edmonton, Alberta as well as Houston, Texas locations. The incumbent will provide an operational hands-on business focused service with a drive to ensure results and solutions are carried out promptly. The HR Advisor will provide services, including but not limited to, providing management and staff with advice, information and practical guidance concerning HR issues, including employment legislation and policy-related matters, aligned to achieving business objectives while effectively representing the HR function and SCORE values. Responsibilities Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with and provide guidance on company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions. Act as an ambassador for fairness and consistency in application of HR policies, procedures and standards. Ensure that all business activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards. Ensure that all HR documentation is always up to date and in line with current legislation. Provide HR support to the Business and staff in all aspects HR and related issues. Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of HR initiatives in conjunction with the HR Manager, to be aligned with overall business strategy. Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions. Facilitate the performance and pay review processes and aid with the associated data processing and analysis. Conduct full-cycle talent acquisition to attract, hire and retain skilled individuals to meet the organization and clients short- and long-term needs, including workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding. Undertake and participate in HR and training projects as agreed with the HR Manager. Analyse HR metrics and data to inform and improve HR processes. Ensure compliance with local Canadian and U.S. labour laws and regulations. Provide support to Edmonton and Houston locations. Promote a positive organizational culture and employee engagement. Ensure that all HR systems and employee records remain updated electronic and paper based. Conduct workplace investigations, compile and prepare investigation reports for HR Managers review. Act as the regions Benefits Administrator and complete required paperwork for short- and long-term disability cases. Conduct interviews and prepare regular reports and statistical data relating to staff turnover and retention. Manage logistics for onboarding and assigning temporary workers to Shutdowns and Turnarounds. This may include, coordinating the process for immigration and work permits, adding employees to drivers insurance policies, etc. Maintain current knowledge of both HR and employment law. Any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business. Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally as an HR Advisor or in a Generalist capacity, supporting both U.S. and Canadian employee populations. Experience with full-cycle talent acquisition and recruiting best practices. HR certification such as SHRM-CP, CHRP, IPMA-CP or other similar is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements in Canada, labour laws, and regulations. Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements in U.S., labour laws, and regulations an asset. Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite. Behaviours and Skills Familiarity with HR processes (e.g., recruitment, payroll, benefits administration). Ability to coordinate multiple HR projects and initiatives simultaneously. Familiarity with HR analytics, metrics and data-driven decision-making. Ability to work independently, following training. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills.
