If so, were excited to welcome you to apply for a position as our new Manager, Information & Privacy!POSITION OVERVIEW As the Manager, Information & Privacy, you will ensure delivery of the full range of services within the Information and Privacy Department and lead the team to oversee the organizations compliance with legislation including the Health Information Act (HIA), the Access to information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) (formerly known as FOIP) and other relevant legislation. You have a significant role in providing strategic advice and guidance to leaders across the organization in an evolving complex care and technology environment. You will bring a strong knowledge and skillset around information and privacy legislation, data security, risk management, collaboration and cross-functional teaming and be influential within an integrated leadership team environment. Key Responsibilities: Formal & Informal Leadership: Lead and manage the teams day to day activities, assign workload to meet legislative requirements and organizational priorities and provide guidance and advice to members of the Information & Privacy team. Manage Complexities: Complete or oversee complex file work including but not limited to responding to privacy breaches, Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) support and providing operational advice. Privacy Education and Training: Ensure comprehensive overarching privacy education and training is available for all staff. Conduct ad-hoc in-person training/education when necessary or requested. Risk Management: Complete an annual organizational risk assessment; Report regularly on 3 the activities of the team, flagging issues of risk, high sensitivity, and making recommendations on matters requiring executive level decision and direction. Stakeholders Management: Acts as the primary organizational contact for OIPC, AHS, AH, Provincial Health Agencies (PHA), Professional Colleges or other external agencies with matters relating to information and privacy communication/ interactions; Provide advice and/or liaises with external organizations, Covenant Care, Covenant Living and the Covenant Foundation to address information and privacy matters. Process/Practice Improvement: Monitor emerging information access and privacy issues and identify opportunities for improvement across the organization. Identify, develop and implement special projects and initiatives to continuously improve the organizations capacity to protect the privacy of the personal and health information.What You Bring to the Table: Education: A post-secondary degree in Legal Studies, Information Management or Business/Public Administration (equivalencies may be considered). Experience: 8- 10 years of experience in an Information Privacy or Information Security position. 3-5 years experience leading teams and services. In-depth knowledge of the HIA, ATIA, POPA (formerly FOIP) and related legislation, including related regulations, and organizational policies and procedures. Skills: Awareness of, issues and trends. Ability to interpret and apply legislative principles and provisions. In depth experience with what constitutes appropriate and inappropriate access to and collection, use and disclosure of health information, privacy breach investigation processes, facilitating the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and complex file management. Efficient and effective investigation, analysis, problem solving, organization and communication skills. Tools: Experience with Connect Care or experience working with large scale EMRs and EHRs spanning multiple facilities or organizations.Some Required Competencies Include: Leadership: Exceptional communication, interpersonal and team leadership skills with a proven ability to influence across all levels of an organization.
