PM SCOPE OF WORKIPECC as a Project Management Service Provider (PMSP), supports its clients in managing their projects.IPECC is looking for a Project Manager who is a construction specialist responsible for the implementation of a broad range of capital renovation projects including designing, estimating, tendering, scheduling, supervising, negotiating and administering contracts. This position ensures projects are delivered within scope, budget projections, and deadlines to our clients standards.The Project Manager is to utilize internal/external resources to manage the design and construction of multiple projects and participate with fast-paced multi-disciplinary teams in support of the operations. This includes reporting stakeholders on all aspects of planning, design and contract administration.The Project Manager will familiarize him/herself with and follow all of the IPECCs and the Clients internal procurement, project management procedures, document control, and safety procedures.Job Responsibilities:Prepares design proposals and manage construction contracts for modernization and renovation projectsReviews drawings and specifications prepared by architects and engineers for modernization and renovation projects and prepares construction documents for project tender and department manager approvalWorks in consultation with department teams to ensure client requirements are met during the design and construction of approved projectsResearch building products, investigates contracting issues, reviews and assesses the appropriateness to ensure the clients goals and needs are metProvides guidance and reviews functional planning, programming and interior design aspects by interpreting and enforcing Safety and Building Code Regulations, clients requirements, good design practices and Alberta Infrastructure GuidelinesSelects appropriate procurement methods in consultation with the client to satisfy user requirements through the development of contract specifications and drawings suitable for open and fair competitionProject Manager compensation is based on hours worked, 40 Hours per week, OT with pre-approval by the Clients at the regular rateThe Project Manager will have a workstation with network access located at the Clients Office within the Facility Services areaMileage to be calculated and compensated from the Clients Central officeThe Client will provide local laptop for network access.QualificationsTechnical diploma in an area related to Architectural Design and Building Construction, or Construction EngineeringMinimum of seven years directly related project management experience in Alberta Infrastructure or School Jurisdiction institutional design and construction managementCertified Engineering Technologist designation or Professional Engineering DesignationKnowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminology, contract law, construction and shop drawings and specifications, project managementKnowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Hazardous Materials Inventory System (WHMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and legislationKnowledge of Hazardous Materials and Asbestos awareness and proper implementation of safe practice and remediation requirementsKnowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Teams, Access, PowerPoint and ProjectsKnowledge of the construction industry and best practicesStrong leadership skills and the ability to supervise contractorsStrong time management skills and the ability to manage priorities and conflicting demandsStrong clients focus with the ability to influence decision- makingStrong consultation, needs assessment and consensus building skills combined with the ability to convey technical information to a range of clients, partners and stakeholdersStrong attention to details and the ability to work within project budgets as well as providing cost reconciliation numbersStrong written and verbal communications skillsAlberta Class 5 drivers license and vehicle transportationEligible to legally work in Canada
