The Opportunity Reporting to the President, this learner-centred leader will play a crucial role in guiding IBU through its next phase of academic development, enhancing IBUs unique identity and customizing programs and activities that achieve its differentiation goals while maintaining high rates of student success. The role will focus on ensuring that curriculum outcomes remain aligned with industry research on labour force needs, which are consistent with the rapidly evolving socioeconomic and technological realities. This position will provide an evaluative framework to ensure IBU continues to fulfill its promise to students and employers that graduates possess the skills businesses seek. This leader emphasizes student success, quality assurance, and innovation in the classroom, along with the ability to support teaching pedagogies that foster high levels of student engagement and deep learning. As the University continues to grow, this leader will develop strategies for enhancing research and innovation capacity and output across the organization. Experienced in the complexities of the post-secondary landscape, the University is looking for a leader who will continue the academic hiring and expansion, have an inclusive and collaborative leadership style, make decisions, and drive initiatives and innovation to completion in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, all while nurturing a collegial and respectful approach across IBU, with DEI principles seamlessly interwoven through strategy, programs, and partnerships fostering an equitable and inclusive community. The academic leader leverages the expertise and strength that exists within the institution and nurtures transparency, consensus building, and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires a strategic thinker, strong communicator and the expertise and ability to inspire new ways of thinking about and engaging in contemporary high-impact and evidence-based approaches to teaching, learning, academic advising, and student success. They are driven by the opportunity to lead a culture of innovation and are able to nurture innovators amongst students, faculty, staff, leadership, academic governance, and external partnerships. This leader will: Foster an exceptional teaching and learning environment grounded by the values and goals of the University. Provide an inspiring and supportive environment for faculty and staff to progress in their careers and aspirations. Champion operational excellence that weaves digital transformation seamlessly throughout all aspects of the academic operation. Enhance the academic governance structure under which new academic programs, program requirements and curriculum frameworks align with legislation, policy, employer needs, and the overall academic goals of the institution. Continue to build and sustain strategic partnerships with industry and other key stakeholders to foster student-centred and mutually beneficial relationships. IBU currently has approximately 3000 students representing over 60 countries, a talented and growing faculty and staff showcasing diverse expertise and backgrounds, 8 PEQAB recommended, and Ministry approved academic programs (developed from 2021-2025) that focus on areas such as: digital sales and marketing; management and technology; innovation and entrepreneurship; global business; financial and management analytics; information systems management and more. IBU plans to continue its programming and campus expansion efforts and is currently focused on the areas of industrial innovation, health management, artificial intelligence, and immersive technologies. The IBU Centre for Sustainable Business and the Future Talent Research Institute are important players in the overall experience and goals of IBU and the University welcomes further expansions particularly where they support students to gain experience, incubate ideas, nurture entrepreneurial aspirations and provide exposure to areas of emerging research.
