The ideal candidate will have significant experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing data models, as well as expertise in financial products and trade data modeling.Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $125k - CAD$135K/year & benefits (see below).The RoleResponsibilities:Design and develop sophisticated data models for trade data related to various financial instruments, ensuring alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements. Work closely with the Director, Data and Architecture Services, Trade Data, to understand strategic objectives and contribute to the overall data architecture strategy. Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications. Create and maintain logical and physical data models, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with internal and external standards. Ensure data models are flexible and scalable to support the introduction of new products and adapt to changes in market practices. Manage metadata repositories and data dictionaries, promoting data quality and consistency across the organization. Review data models with stakeholders, validating design decisions and ensuring data integrity. Advise on data normalization, storage solutions, and efficient data retrieval methods. Participate in data governance initiatives, supporting the development and enforcement of data policies and standards. Stay abreast of industry trends, tools, and regulatory changes that impact data modeling and capital markets.Requirements:Design, develop, and implement data models for financial products, ensuring that they meet business and regulatory requirements.Model trade data using industry-standard protocols and schemas such as FpML, ISDA CDM, FIX, SWIFT, and ISO20022.Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable data models.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including data architects, developers, and business analysts) to ensure the seamless integration of data across various platforms.Manage and optimize data warehousing and ETL processes, ensuring high-quality, reliable data for analytics and reporting.Maintain and enhance existing data models, ensuring their accuracy and alignment with evolving business needs.Ensure compliance with financial regulations (e.g., GDPR, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank) and incorporate those into data management strategies.Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior data modelers and other team members.8+ Years Business analyst experience, including data analysis experience, such as assessing the data, performing data mining & mapping, defining data lineage & transformation rules.Detailed financial knowledge within areas previously supported, in Equity products both cash and derivatives (Options, Futures, Swaps, Exotics, etc.), ideally with experience in other asset classes as well (Fixed income, commodities, multi-asset), including pricing, risk and P&L.A good understanding of P&L analysis, attribution, risks, Greeks, and VaR.Comfortable with SQL.Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.Preferred, but not required:Experience with 3rd party applications a plus (Sophis, Murex, Calypso, etc).Experience with various regulatory risk reporting, (FRTB, Volcker, etc..)General knowledge of front-to-back trade lifecycle: risk frameworks, market data, funding, collateral management, trade execution venues, etc.Good understanding of QA processes and Procedures.Experience with Python or other programming languages.We offer:A multinational organization with 58 offices in 21 countries and the possibility to work abroad.15 days (3 weeks) of paid annual leave plus an additional 10 days of personal leave (floating days and sick days).A comprehensive insurance plan including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability.Flexible hybrid policy.RRSP with employers contribution up to 4%.A higher education certification policy.On-demand Udemy for Business for all Synechron employees with free access to more than 5000 curated courses.Coaching opportunities with experienced colleagues from our Financial Innovation Labs (FinLabs) and Center of Excellences (CoE) groups.Cutting edge projects at the worlds leading tier-one banks, financial institutions and insurance firms.A truly diverse, fun-loving and global work culture.SYNECHRONS DIVERSITY & INCLUSION STATEMENT Diversity & Inclusion are fundamental to our culture, and Synechron is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
