This position will work closely with the Managing Director to support the companys growth. In this role you will support technical development of projects within the portfolio, across various markets, including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Atlantic Canada. You will lead project engineering and design work, ensuring that permitting activities proceed with a focus on constructability and project success. You will procure relevant EPC contractors and coordinate the work of owners engineers to deliver projects on time and on budget.We are seeking an individual that can support the Managing Director with the following tasks:Role & ResponsibilitiesLead internal teams and contractors in the development and permitting of wind, solar, and storage projects across multiple Canadian markets.Manage relationships with government entities, and third-party consultants to meet all land use, interconnection, construction, PPA and permitting requirements.Manage project financial objectives based on budget, scope and schedule expectations including construction budgets and cost estimates to align with project financial modelsBuild project schedules to coordinate permitting and construction processes, track progress, and keep management informed on key decisions or upcoming project milestones.Lead RFP submissions in key markets across the country and work with the team to respond with proposals, pricing, term sheets, issues lists, and necessary material documents.Develop early-stage project designs to maximize the chances of future project success, including site layouts, equipment selection, energy modelling and cost estimates.Source and manage relationships with EPC contractors and Owners Engineer firms.Maintain relationships with equipment suppliers in the solar, wind and battery industries to stay up-to-date with equipment pricing, availability and deliverability.Draft permits for regulators at the local, provincial and federal levels of government as required for the constructability and operations of all projects.Support stakeholder engagement activities including open house presentations, chairing meetings, and building relationships to ensure the companys projects are successfully approved by regulators.Review and manage project contracts, including leases, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, consultant contracts, term sheets, and project buyer (client) contracts, to ensure compliance with their terms.Identify existing and emerging risks to project success and develop mitigation strategies.Prepare management presentations on project opportunities, development status and project economics.Support initiatives to inform reconcepts development strategy in key markets across Canada.Manage internal approvals and brief management on project development activities weekly.Work cooperatively with other groups within the business, both in Canada and Germany as necessary.Perform other duties as assigned.EducationA minimum of an undergraduate degree in either engineering, project management, renewable energy or environmental sciences, with a preference for graduate level credentials: Minimum Requirements.A minimum of 5-10 years of direct project management experience in large infrastructure or energy project development.Knowledge of infrastructure project development, permitting and regulations in Canada.Demonstrated track record of successfully permitting projects through the development life cycle, into project execution and construction.Strong knowledge of the provincial regulatory process in at least one of the companys core markets, such as the IESO, AESO, AUC, BC Hydro, or other provincial regulators. Knowledge of multiple markets is ideal.Previous experience negotiating, identifying leads, and tracking progress in regulatory processes, ensuring permits are compliant with construction requirements and local building codes.Proficiency with Microsoft Office products particularly Excel.PMP designation is an asset.Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceProven track record of developing, constructing, commissioning and operation of utility scale solar, wind, storage or other electricity generation facilites in Canada or the US.Demonstrated project management capabilities (budgeting, scheduling, reporting).Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively support a team.Strong organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.Demonstrated work-ethic and willingness to learn.Strong interest in renewable energy technologies and developments in the industry.
