We are looking for a Manager, Human Capital with a background in labour relations to join our team in a dynamic unionized hotel environment. Part of the Hotel Leadership Team, this is a pivotal role that requires an individual with experience in managing union relationships, compliance with collective agreements, and strategic human capital practices. The HC Manager will be responsible for overseeing a broad spectrum of Human Capital functions including recruitment & selection, performance management, succession planning, training, total rewards, employment legislation, health & safety, while fostering a positive, compliant, and performance-driven workplace.Compensation range: $69,684.96 - $104,527.44The annualized compensation range is inclusive of base salary and short term incentive target for this role. The base salary offered will be determined based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, education, training, and geographic location. We reserve the upper end of the salary band for employees who demonstrate sustained high performance.Our Total Rewards package also includes:Comprehensive benefits packageEmployee & Family Assistance ProgramRRSP matchingFitness ReimbursementHotel discounts worldwide!Responsibilities and Duties:Provide strategic human capital advice to the General Manager, Department Heads and Supervisors.Advise Managers on interpreting and adhering to the collective bargaining agreement.Investigate and resolve grievances, ensuring compliance with union contracts. Act as a liaison between Union Reps, Associates, and Management.Conduct investigations and ensure disciplinary actions are consistent with the collective bargaining agreement and company policies.Recognize barriers to success and facilitate proactive dispute resolution that supports a performance driven culture.Manage the recruitment, onboarding and new hire orientation at the hotel.Oversee the administration of associate benefits programs, including health, retirement, and leave benefits.Audit bi-weekly payroll.Ensure the hotel is operating in full compliance with all provincially and federally legislated employment standards, human rights codes, and Occupational Health & Safety legislation.Spearhead training and conduct training needs analysis to identify skills and competency gaps.Assist Managers in preparing individual and departmental training and succession plans.Champion associate engagement initiatives, including organizing events such as appreciation week, annual holiday parties, and other activities.Maintain an open door policy for all and act as a liaison between Associates and Managers.Coach, guide and administer the progressive discipline process with the Managers and ensure Performance Management (PPR) evaluations are completed in accordance with SilverBirch guidelines.Maintain the accuracy and integrity of human resource information systems.Champion the Sustainable Engagement Survey process, interpret the results, and support the development and implementation of action plans.Other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships with both internal stakeholders and union representatives, fostering positive labour relations.Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with union leadership and manage conflict or grievances.In-depth knowledge of human capital disciplines, including collective agreements, labour laws, and labour relations.Skilled in managing labour disputes and providing proactive solutions to union concerns while maintaining a focus on organizational goals.Ability to navigate complex labour relations issues and organizational change, ensuring positive union engagement and compliance with agreements.High levels of flexibility and adaptability; experience with organizational change.Strong initiative and ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities at all times, with shifting deadlines.Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources Management.5 to 7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources including 2-3 years in a unionized work environment.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.Working Conditions:Normal office working conditions.If you are interested in joining SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, we want to hear from you!At SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, our natural diversity shapes us while our focus on inclusivity and belonging contributes to achieving our vision.
