Aplin is proudto be partnering with a growing Alberta-based consulting engineering firm to identify a skilled and experienced Construction Project Manager. This is a key leadership opportunity for a candidate who brings a strong background in managing water and wastewater infrastructure projects, both in the field and through cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams.The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the construction phase of various water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineering professionals and multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will be instrumental in project execution, field supervision, client management, and driving quality and compliance through all phases of construction delivery.This role is well-suited to Professional Engineers, Certified Engineering Technologists, or experienced Project Managers with a trades background and substantial site-based construction leadership experience. Key Project Areas Projects may include, but are not limited to:Wastewater: Collection systems, lift stations, forcemains, and lagoon systemsWater: Intakes, storage ponds, pipelines, pump stations, treatment facilities, and distribution networksResponsibilitiesProject Management & ExecutionLead and manage construction projects from kickoff to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, scope, and timelinesCollaborate with engineering, operations, and administrative teams to ensure project coordinationOversee project forecasting, scheduling, resource planning, and earned value analysisConduct and document site inspections and field reviewsManage progress reporting, project invoicing, and client updatesEnsure quality assurance and compliance with all construction specifications and contractsAddress project risks and proactively resolve construction and design conflictsTeam Leadership & Client EngagementProvide on-site supervision of contractors and technical teamsServe as the key liaison between project stakeholders, clients, and subconsultantsMentor junior staff and support performance development through feedback and guidancePromote a culture of professionalism, safety, and client service excellenceProcurement & Pre-ConstructionLead procurement processes including contract preparation, tendering, and evaluationAssist with writing proposals, scopes of work, and project budgetsReview RFP documents and assist in developing project management plansConstruction Oversight & DocumentationInterpret construction documents, drawings, and technical specificationsCoordinate and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, and contractor inquiriesMonitor construction activities for adherence to quality control requirementsPrepare and maintain detailed construction reports, documentation, and as-built recordsQualificationsMinimum of 8 years experience in a construction project management role, ideally within the water/wastewater sectorDemonstrated leadership on active construction sites and in project planningFormal education or certification in one of the following areas:Red Seal Journeyman Certificationin a relevant tradeCertified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), in good standing with ASETProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical EngineeringStrong working knowledge of MS Project, Excel, Word, Visio, and project management softwareExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsValid Class 5 Drivers License and ability to travel throughout Alberta as requiredWorking ConditionsBased in Edmonton with regular travel to project sitesOccasional overnight stays and extended field work may be required (812 hour days during critical phases)Opportunity to contribute to a high-growth firm with a strong reputation for client service and technical excellenceDavid Aplin & Associates Inc., operating as Aplin, and its associated brands, CompuStaff and Impact Recruitment, is an award-winning employment agency connecting diverse, top-tier talent with exceptional organizations across North America.
