Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO is responsible for realizing United Way Winnipegs mission to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a trusted organization with deep civic roots and growing influence. The CEO will build on United Way Winnipegs strong foundation of public trust, operational excellence, and community engagement to drive systemic progress in the face of some of the citys most complex and urgent challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesVision and StrategyChampion a clear and compelling vision for United Way Winnipegs future, aligned with its mission, values, and strategic priorities. Anticipate future risks and opportunities, and confidently articulate, lead and drive the organizations next phase of growth and impact.Provide strategic oversight and integration across all operational functions, including finance, technology, human resources, and marketing, to ensure alignment, efficiency, and maximum support for United Way Winnipegs core business areas.Operationalize the strategic plan into actionable priorities and measurable deliverables, ensuring alignment across internal and external stakeholders through clear communication, progress tracking, and performance reporting.Provide leadership for United Way Winnipegs community impact and revenue generation strategies in order to maximize the organizations positive impact in our community.People & CultureGuide the organizations operations with a clear sense of purpose, ensuring strong alignment with strategy, sound stewardship of resources, and a healthy, inclusive culture built on trust, accountability, and growth.Lead a passionate, high-performing staff team through empowerment, development, and shared purpose.Foster a values-based organizational culture grounded in transparency, equity, and belonging.Support staff and volunteer alignment around strategic direction and operational priorities.Community and Stakeholder LeadershipServe as a visible and trusted champion of United Way Winnipegs mission and values, building strong, effective relationships with community leaders, donors, volunteers, and partner agencies to advance shared goals and drive lasting community impact.Lead United Way Winnipegs commitment to Indigenous collaboration, building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and advancing reconciliation through authentic partnership and action.Advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) across all aspects of the organizations work, fostering a culture of belonging and ensuring inclusive practices in governance, operations, and community engagement.Lead thoughtful, sustained investment in a network of front-line community-based agencies, to meet the needs of Winnipeggers, considering sector capacity building and continuous improvement.Bring together experts and cross-sector stakeholders to develop research and systems-based solutions to social challenges, empowered by philanthropy and government partnerships.Revenue Growth and Strategic PartnershipsProvide leadership in securing diverse and sustainable revenue streams through annual campaigns, corporate partnerships, and public-sector collaborations.Advance excellence in donor relations and stewardship.Build and steward strategic relationships across business, government, and community sectors to unlock new investment and growth opportunities.Expand traditional fundraising approaches by integrating government funding, grant-based programming, and innovative partnership and fundraising models.Governance and Board RelationsFoster a strong partnership with the Board, ensuring transparency, accountability, and collaborative governance.Provide timely, strategic advice, analysis, and reporting to the Board and its committees to support effective oversight and decision-making.Lead the implementation of Board-approved strategies and ensure compliance with governance policies and practices.Candidate ProfileExperience and BackgroundA minimum of 10 years in an executive leadership role, ideally in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.Proven experience leading teams through organizational change, with the ability to foster alignment, resilience, and high-performance during periods of transformation.Brings strong financial acumen and operational expertise, with a proven ability to oversee budgeting and organizational performance, alongside effective leadership of human resource strategies, workforce development, and team capacity-building.Demonstrated ability to translate strategic vision into operational plans, driving execution through collaboration, accountability, and results-oriented leadership.Experience navigating and engaging within complex stakeholder ecosystems, including government, corporate, labour, nonprofit, and grassroots community partners.An understanding of nonprofit accountability, fiduciary responsibility, and the importance of public trust.Skilled at building internal clarity and momentum across diverse teams while managing multiple external relationships with diplomacy and credibility.Deep familiarity with social issues, systems change, and the unique needs and strengths of Winnipegs communities.Post-secondary education in a relevant field. Executive development or MBA considered an asset.About United Way WinnipegUnited Way Winnipeg (UWW) was created in 1965 through a partnership between the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and the Winnipeg Labour Council.
