Maintenance Technician (Mechanical/Electrical) Location: Edmonton, Alberta About the Company: Our client is a well-established production/manufacturing company committed to operational excellence and quality output. We are seeking skilled Maintenance Technicians with expertise in mechanical or electrical systems to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the production equipment and facility. Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issues, and minimizing downtime in a fast-paced plant environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in either mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors) or electrical systems (PLCs, motor controls, automation) and a strong commitment to workplace safety. Key Responsibilities: Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on production equipment to ensure continuous operation. Troubleshoot and repair: Mechanical systems: Pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Electrical systems: PLCs, motor controls, sensors, wiring, and control panels. Perform diagnostics using schematics, manuals, and testing equipment. Assist in the installation, modification, and commissioning of new machinery. Follow safety protocols (lockout/tagout, OH&S, plant safety standards). Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve equipment issues quickly. Recommend improvements to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime. Qualifications & Skills: 3+ years of experience in maintenance within a production plant or manufacturing environment. Mechanical Technicians: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding. Experience with bearing replacement, alignment, and lubrication. Electrical Technicians: Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, motor controls, and electrical circuits. Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory): Journeyman Ticket (Red Seal) Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or Electrician. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Comfortable working in a plant environment (standing, lifting, exposure to noise/machinery). Working Conditions: Shift: Day shift 5/2s Environment: Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to moving machinery, temperature variations, and noise.
