Our office is located in downtown Whitby. Our projects can be found throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and surrounding areas including but not limited too; Kingston, Ottawa, London, Kitchener, Niagara Region, Simcoe County.THE ROLE CONSTRUCTION MANAGERThe Construction Manager will be the leader whose primary responsibility is keeping our project teams accountable and organized. They will ensure all construction processes, requirements etc. are followed. They will liaise with project stakeholders to ensure alignment in the project's standards, schedule and milestones. They will ensure that projects are staffed efficiently and provide support where required. They will support the teams as they progress from estimating to close-out. They will support the team as they manage subcontracts, direct-supply to trade-installers, client relations, consultant relations. They will monitor project budgets, schedule, quality, and safety.This role will require a hybrid work model of rotating and travelling between project sites, holding meetings with project teams (site or office), work from office when required, work from home only where applicable for time management.The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years working as a Construction Manager - directly managing multiple project teams. Alternatively, 5 years of experience working as a Superintendent or Project Manager whom managed multiple crews, and multiples of projects which were continuously performed concurrently - would be an asset. The ideal candidate has worked for a General Contractor/Construction Manager/ Design-Builder in the sectors of ICI, or Commercial Interiors, Institutional, and or Mixed-use sector within Ontario, Canada. The ideal candidate, must also be able to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple commercial interior projects, in a range of locations which run concurrently. They must be familiar with running multiple projects in multiple locations in the range of: Size 900sqft - 20,000sqft + & Contract values of $150,000.00 - $3,000,000.00 +.Candidates must have:Leadership skills, positive attitude and have a motivational personality.The ability to efficiently manage teams, colleagues, consultants, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve the common project goals in synergy.Understanding, knowledge and experience of both field operations and office operations for construction projects.Understanding of ICI construction industry standard operating procedures.A senior level understanding of managing construction budgets and coordinating with company budgets.A senior level understanding of team building, critical thinking, problem solving.The ability to work independently and with their teams from the time of contract award to successful handover with completed punch lists to our clients.Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and technical communication with all project stakeholders.The highest regard for safe work procedures, while executing challenging project conditions and required milestones Confident knowledge of construction industry methods with the high quality standards.Ability and interest to build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.Mobility/ability to travel as required for project assignments within Ontario as needed by the companys ownership.Excellent with leveraging resources to find efficiencies, interpreting construction drawings and specsDemonstrates a extensive professional network in the construction industry and knowledge of vendors, distributors, materials, methods, techniques, code compliance etc.Qualifications:3-5 years working as a Construction Manager - directly managing multiple project teams.Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Superintendent or Project manager with a General Contractor, Construction Management, and or Design Build firm.Holds a degree or diploma within Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture. Alternatively, holds a recognized trade qualification issued by the ministry.Construction specific training certifications such as working at heights, fall protection, first aid, and other relative and common training would be an asset to demonstrate knowledge, experience and a general commitment to professionalism in the industry.Knowledge of the Ontario construction market, trades, suppliers and appropriate networks.Ability to use and adapt to current and new technology.Demonstrates past experience with improving operational work-flows and streamlining processes.Ability to innovate methods and procedures as needed or when the necessity arises.Experience in the use of Construction project management software.Construction specific - Industry certifications, Trade qualifications, 3-yr diploma, or 4-yr degree will be an asset and will be highly regarded by the hiring team.This is role is open to the following options: permanent full-time or contract - both with competitive compensation and benefits packages.APPLICANT INSTRUCTIONS(1) Please send a cover letter and resume to info@fortitudeconstruction.ca.
