It poses a unique set of challenges for each spill site. Every Site will have site specific considerations; however, the regulatory frameworks allow for a standardized response to a spill.Environmental Spill Responders require a diverse set of personal attributes and familiarity with multidisciplinary approaches. Spill Responders need to be comfortable with out-of-town travel, be able to work independently, and employ quick, critical and logical rationale based on legislation. Familiarity and/or previous experience with provincial and federal spill response regulations and creating conceptual site models is preferred.You are a graduate of an Engineering or Environmental Science discipline with a minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental consulting or related industry and are pursuing or have obtained a professional designation, such as a P.Eng., P.Geo., PAg or similar. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an aptitude for environmental consulting and technical writing. You believe firmly in the importance of teamwork and adding value to the team. You can manage your time effectively and are enthusiastic, positive and focused on solutions, not problems.The Field Environmental Spill Responders primary focus will be to conduct field tasks related to spill response, but the role will also support Keystone Environmentals other departments (Engineering, Contaminated Sites, Biological Services) for a variety of projects. Duties and Responsibilities include:Travel to remote sites across Western Canada (primarily BC and AB) to oversee emergency response of a spill, including containment and control measures. Collecting field data including observations of site conditions, soil, surface water, groundwater and/or vapor samples to support remedial planning.Oversee remediation and restoration of sites, collection of confirmatory samples, providing remediation management and construction oversight.Support preparation of applicable permits such as Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Transportation permitting including Species at Risk Act permits, highway works permits, traffic management plans, site specific ecological permitting.Working with a multidisciplinary team including construction trades, risk assessors, biologists, structural engineers to create conceptual site models and plan remedial work.Report writing including End-Of-Spill Reporting, Notification of Independent Remediation, technical reports, regulatory instrument reporting.
