Toronto's new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.Role overviewThe General Civils Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all civil-related activities on-site, including earthworks, road works (temporary and permanent), track sub-base and hard and soft landscaping. This role ensures subcontractors perform their work according to project requirements, safety standards, and timelines. The position will collaborate closely with other discipline leads and superintendents to ensure the smooth execution of work.Role and responsibilitiesAct as the primary point of contact for general civil subcontractors.Coordinate daily activities and resolve conflicts between subcontractors and site operations.Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards.Collaborate with superintendents and discipline leads to manage site logistics and workflow.Review civil designs and ensure their alignment with project plans and specifications.Provide technical support and guidance to subcontractors.Assist in the development and implementation of construction methodologies.Provide support and coordination to the project procurement team for RFP preparation.Monitor the progress of earthworks, road works, and landscaping activities.Develop and maintain detailed schedules for general civil activities.Identify potential delays and coordinate mitigation strategies with the project team.Ensure timely completion of milestones related to civil works.Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with quality standards.Coordinate testing and inspections with third-party agencies when required.Ensure documentation and reporting of any quality-related issues.Ensure all subcontractors adhere to safety protocols and regulations.Conduct site audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.Participate in safety meetings and promote a culture of safety on-site, including development and implementation of Mobile Equipment and Pedestrian Interface drawings.Liaise with the Yard Project Manager and other project stakeholders to provide updates.Address concerns raised by the project team or subcontractors.Prepare and present progress reports and updates as required.Attend weekly construction coordination meetings with subcontractors.Coordinate with the Technical Team and Designers to ensure the required Shop Drawings and other necessary documentation are in place before the activity starts.Maintain a strong understanding of General Civils subcontracts to facilitate efficient subcontract management.Liaise with the Subcontract and Procurement departments to manage change processes.Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction, specifically in earthworks, road works, and landscaping.Experience coordinating subcontractors in a rail or transportation infrastructure environment is preferred Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office, including MS Project.Knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam is required.Knowledge of health and safety regulations, work plans, safety measures and flagging requirement when working within proximity of high tensions transmission power lines and rail tracks is an assetWORK ENVIRONMENTAt WeBuild, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture that promotes gender equity and the recruitment of under-represented groups at all levels of our workforce.
