Under the direction of the Support Services Manager, this position is responsible for providing direction and support to Support Services (Nutrition, Environmental, Laundry, and Maintenance) working within Western Hospital. This position is responsible for cafeteria operations and menu planning, processes for payroll, scheduling, requisitioning, receiving, quality improvements, housekeeping audits, housekeeping cleaning schedules, etc. This position supports the hiring, performance and attendance management activities for employees working at Western Hospital, Alberton. Duties will include, but are not limited to: plan the delivery of food to ensure safe, nutritious and adequate requirements are met while adhering to safe and sanitary procedures; supervise and provide support to all staff and establish work procedures; completes payroll functions for all staff (scheduling, leave forms, data entry, and reporting in PeopleSoft); develop and maintain menus, engaging all clients in the menu planning process; ensure all diet information is recorded in a clear, concise manner for each patient / resident; communicate effectively with employees, other departments, residents, patients and vendors; assist with employee performance management reviews; provide early intervention on human resource issues by meeting with employees, unions and human resources; assist with the hiring processes; orientate new staff, monitor and track staff education; monitor monthly expenditures, report on variances with recommendations for corrective measures to reconcile the budget allocation; order and receive all food and supplies according to tenders / contracts for Environmental and Nutrition Services; participate in committees and other person-centered care initiatives i.e., OH&S, MSIP, Household meetings; implementation and evaluation of nutrition services audits and maintain quality boards; responsible for quality improvement measures, including huddles and staff education; organize and facilitate staff meetings at both locations; participate in departmental quality improvement activities; maintain a culture of safety; and, other related duties. Minimum Qualifications: successful completion of Grade 12; successful completion of a university degree with a major in nutrition; supervisory and leadership experience; excellent interpersonal and written communication; ability to work with minimum supervision; demonstrated ability to be organized, self-motivated, flexible; a good previous work and attendance record. Other Qualifications: familiarity with Oracle and PeopleSoft will be considered an asset; proficiency in scheduling, payroll, purchasing and inventory control considered will be considered an asset; experience in conflict resolution will be considered an asset; additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
