This position offers the opportunity to work on various commercial, retail, and medical projects across the lower mainland. The ideal candidate will be able to develop their skills in not only design, but in construction and furniture sourcing. This job offers the opportunity to cultivate innovative and creative solutions for all of our clients and projects.What you will be doing:Manage the design process from the initial intake stages through to completion.Work on a strict schedule to adhere to clients timelines and budget.Develop high quality, detailed drawing sets with consideration of site conditions, budget, and creative direction.Manage the submission process for development and building permits. Supply and review of all forms/schedules required, including coordination of third party documentation.Create detailed design presentations, mood boards, and 3D renderings to communicate ideas effectively to clients and teams.Coordinate with engineers, architects, clients, contractors, landlords and all other stakeholders to ensure project incorporates required elements and approvals. Stay up to date with the latest design trends, materials and technology to incorporate innovative design Collaborate within the design team and mentor junior designers. Quality check and review team members drawings when required.Adhere to latest building codes, city zoning and regulations.Build and maintain relationships with engineers, architects, trades & suppliers.Work closely with project managers to ensure design integrity is maintained: review shop drawings, finishes, conduct site visits, issue addendums, and reviews of all documentation.General office administration: library upkeep, ordering supplies, internal coordination.Requirements:6+ years of Commercial Interior Design experienceDegree or Diploma in Interior Design from a recognized University or CollegeExperience in applying for commercial permits and following them through to issuanceExperience in coordinating Architects, engineers and other subtrades during the design phase of a projectSolid understanding of BC Building Codes (VBBL & BCBC 2024)Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office Microsoft skillsExcellent writing skills and English language comprehensionKnowledge in 3D sketch-up, enscape and photoshop would be an assetUnderstanding of furniture design and furniture systems is beneficialTime management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentValid BC Drivers License
