This opportunity will start of as a 6 month contract that will convert to a permanent full time opportunity. The Cloud Architect plays a key role in shaping the cloud-first strategy for our managed services, ensuring secure practices and enhancing operational efficiency. This individual will collaborate with various teams including Solution and Software Architects, Security, Product Management, and Operations to handle the technical aspects of designing, implementing, testing, deploying, securing, and automating infrastructure services for SaaS solutions on Azure and AWS. In this role, the Cloud Architect will contribute to the creation and documentation of standardized infrastructure patterns and best practices.Key Responsibilities:Develop and manage a cloud strategy that supports multi-tenancy for our managed services offerings.Create cloud reference architectures to support diverse deployment configurations.Establish and document architectural principles and standard specifications for our managed services.Assess, design, automate, and implement security solutions to ensure compliance with industry standards.Collaborate with the Security Operations team to establish and enforce cloud security best practices.Work closely with stakeholders to define cloud, container, and application security standards.Design processes for tracking and attributing cost and utilization across cloud service providers.Create and maintain detailed documentation for cloud security systems and protocols.Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and research to evaluate and integrate cutting-edge technologies.Produce thorough documentation, including design diagrams, knowledge transfer materials, and operational transition guidelines.Serve as a subject matter expert, guiding projects from initiation to successful completion.Deliver executive-level briefings on technology direction and its alignment with business and IT objectives.Advocate for the cloud technology vision, solutions, and best practices with senior leadership and across the company.Provide thought leadership on multi-cloud strategies.Collaborate with Operations to address technical challenges and promote operational efficiency.Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of working hours in project management systems, aiming for maximum billable hours.Adhere to privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.Requirements:At least 5 years of experience as a Solutions Architect with expertise in securing cloud-based solutions (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS).Bachelors degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related IT field.A minimum of 5 years of experience in identifying and mitigating security risks to meet compliance standards.Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and interconnection/colo providers.Deep understanding of application architectures, particularly in migrating or refactoring systems for the cloud.Experience presenting complex technical solutions to both executive teams and technical experts.In-depth knowledge of cloud best practices with formal certification in one of the major cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Security Certification).Extensive experience securing operating systems, firewalls, networks, systems, databases, and application architectures.Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like HIPAA, ISO, HITRUST, and their impact on system design.Expertise in security tools such as antivirus, IDS/IPS, WAFs, NSGs, and firewalls.Proficient in cloud networking and security technologies.Advanced understanding of common cloud services including databases, containers, compute, storage, and serverless solutions.Experience with managing database performance (e.g., MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, DynamoDB).Knowledge of identity management protocols such as OAuth/OpenID and threat modeling.Expertise in data center architecture, including routing, switching, firewalls, virtualization, storage, and network technologies.Highly responsive, customer-oriented mindset.Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong project management capabilities.Excellent collaboration skills in team settings.Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor with deep technical expertise in the multi-cloud and hybrid IT space.Strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.Leadership experience with the ability to mentor others.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong networking skills within and outside the organization.
