Job Description

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the movement of goods and materials through the supply chain. This includes coordinating shipments, arranging transportation with 3rd party partners and inhouse driver(s), supervising inhouse driver(s), monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring timely and professional communication with customers and other business units. The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with various internal departments (e.g., operations, sales, and finance) and external vendors to optimize the logistics process and to provide support where required.Key Responsibilities:Shipment Coordination:Schedule and manage inbound and outbound shipments, assigning load numbers as required.Work with carriers, freight forwarders, and warehouses to ensure timely deliveries.Generate drivers schedule, ensuring route optimization, route efficiency and load density. Prepare various schedules maintaining accuracy and resolving and communicating any changes in a timely manner.Prepare and process shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, scale tickets, load number assignment & schedules).Inventory Management:Monitor supply inventory levels to ensure supply meets demand.Collaborate with the warehouse team to track stock and organize storage for cages, & gaylords.Customer & Supplier Communication:Communicate with carriers, vendors, and customers regarding pickup schedules and timing.Address any concerns related to pick up delays, damages, or discrepancies.Maintain positive and professional relationships with all external partners.Provide excellent customer service, communicate proactively.Documentation and Compliance:Maintain various schedules and shipping documentation.Prepare documents for Billing in conjunction with Finance team (end of month) and ensure all related documents are uploaded and available in a timely manner.Monitor/track vehicle repair and maintenance, follow PM schedule.Ensure driver(s) are wearing specified personal protective equipment while working (as per PPE matrix).Maintain truck spill kit monthly inspection and replacement as required.Collect and review drivers logbooks for accuracy, identify any issues and report to management.Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being followed by all drivers/employees. Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to optimize logistics operations.Collaborate with other teams to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery/pickup times.Monitor logistics performance metrics and report findings to management.Problem Resolution:Address any logistical challenges, such as delays, damage, or shortages.Work with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.Qualifications:Education:Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) may be advantageous.Experience:2-4 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation coordination.Experience with SAP, Microsoft Suite applications. Excel proficiency an asset.Knowledge of all freight methods and various transportation modes.Skills:Strong organizational and multitasking skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented with the ability to solve problems quickly.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Familiarity with logistics software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).Other Attributes:Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Strong analytical and decision-making skills.Team player with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
