Position Summary: As part of an interdisciplinary team the Nurse Practitioner will provide a comprehensive assessment of clients with mental health and eating disorder related issues and provide treatment management, guidance and prescribe medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards. Duties and Responsibilities: Providing ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation and evaluation. Formulating and implementing patient care plans. Maintaining current progress records on patients according to legal and ethical standards. Orientating, facilitating and reinforcing patients'' involvement in eating disorder treatment. Providing ongoing health teaching to patients about common health problems that co-occur with eating disorders. Communicate and collaborate with patients and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis. Prescribe and evaluate patient medications in accordance with statutory & regulatory standards. Consult with doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Dietitians, and clinical team members regarding patient care and progress. Support transition planning, including the home environment and alternate levels of care within the health care system. Assess and recognize population health trends; ability to plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention. Identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient care. Develop and implement evidence-based strategies to improve care and participate in creating and evaluating health care policies. Collaborate with clients and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for clients, families, and communities. Decide and initiate a course of action in the case of medical emergencies. Assume responsibility and accountability for professional development, educational or consultative assistance. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: You must hold a valid RN practice permit in Alberta. A master''s degree in nursing or a post-masters certificate/diploma from an approved NP program is required. At least 4,500 hours of clinical practice as a registered nurse. You must be in good standing with the CRNA on the nurse practitioner register Maintain Code of Ethics.
