The salary range for this position is: Recruitment range: $106,897-$133,623 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity. Performance range: $153,666 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases. Job Summary The Director of Faculty Finance and Budgeting the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) serves as a strategic financial leader who plays a pivotal role in driving the Faculty of Engineering''s strategic initiatives and financial sustainability. This position reports directly to the Dean and works closely with the facultys leadership team, as well as the Associate Vice-President, Academic Resource Planning. This role is essential to ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of ECS, overseeing budgeting, financial policies, capital projects, and investment strategies. By aligning resources with the facultys strategic goals, the Director of Faculty Finance and Budgeting strengthens UVics mission through effective financial planning, accountability, and partnerships with central units and funders. This position provides essential financial evidence-based insights to support program planning, human resources, and strategic initiatives, contributing to the facultys long-term success. This position requires occasional work outside of regular business hours, with increased workloads during peak periods of the annual operational cycle. Job Requirements This position requires an Accounting or Financial Designation (i.e., CPA CGA, CA, CMA, CFA), a minimum of 10 years experience with budget management, forecasting and resource planning, strong communication skills and an understanding of the structure and complexities of post-secondary institutions. An equivalent level of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment. Management and administration of financial resources in a large and complex organization. Experience in Executive operations, administrative procedures and business cycles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex financial scenarios. Officially recognized financial designation and the ability to adhere to the guidelines of the organization providing the designation. Proficiency in financial systems and tools, with a focus on reporting and analytics platforms. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills for effective communication with various partners including executive, faculty, staff and external partners. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations. Understanding and awareness of philanthropy and donor fund management.
