Software Development Engineer, AWS Geospatial Do you want to be part of a team building a brand-new AWS service from the ground up? If yes, come join Amazon Location (With Amazon Location Service, customers can easily add capabilities such as maps, points of interest, geocoding, geofences, and tracking to applications. They retain control of their location data, so that they can combine proprietary data with data from the service without their private information ever leaving their AWS account. Amazon Location provides cost-effective location-based services using high-quality data from global, trusted providers Esri and HERE. With Amazon Locations affordable data, tracking and geofencing capabilities, and built-in metrics for health monitoring, customers can bring sophisticated location-enabled applications to production quickly, without the high cost of custom development. On-Call responsibility: As on our team you will be part of an on-call rotation, typically for one week every two months. Your team members, Sr. SDEs and managers will support you in your onboarding to operating a service at AWS, and will genuinely be happy to jump in and help. Key job responsibilities We are looking for a software engineer to drive feature development for Amazon Location Service. You will take the lead on e2e full stack design, development of our new serverless AWS service. You will deliver a best in class customer experience and operate the service to the highest standards. A day in the life Start your day, grab a coffee (or tea), say hi to your team, participate in the daily standup, participate in a design review meeting, have a one-on-one with one of your engineers, work on your team''s roadmap, guide the operational review meeting to monitor the health of the service. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor''s degree in computer science or equivalent The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
