Specialty Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Job Opportunity Link Qualifications, Education and Skills Requisites Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License Full Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Mandatory Role and Facility Information The Island Health Division of Rehabilitation Medicine has an opening for a general physiatrist to join our team providing a consultative service at North Island Hospital Comox Valley and surrounding areas. Candidates with expertise and interest in the rehabilitation of individuals with neurological diseases, post-traumatic impairments, and amputations rehabilitation in hospital-based practice and outpatient settings are encouraged to apply. This is a general program providing the full scope of rehabilitation services with a full range of medical, surgical, and psychiatric specialists on-site as well as diagnostic services including x-rays, nuclear medicine, sonography, CT, and MRI. Access to epidural and facet injection services is also available. The Physiatrist(s) provide a consulting and directive care service without night call. Additional Information Two part-time positions available. Community Information The beautiful oceanfront Town of Comox is located on the central east coast of Vancouver Island. The Comox Valley includes the towns of Comox, Courtenay, and Cumberland which together have an immediate catchment of over 72,000 people. Known for its abundant wildlife, it is a place where you can ski, golf, fish, and go to the theatre all in the same day. Comox offers all the amenities of a larger city with the charm of a small town setting, including high quality daycares, excellent schools (both French and English), relatively affordable housing, and easy access by air to Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. Comox Valley Hospital is a 154 bed acute care facility opened in 2017, managed by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. This new facility includes a closed 8-bed ICU and a 10-bed telemetry unit. In order to support our growing community, the Comox Valley Hospital is looking to expand internal medicine capacity.
