Provides team leadership to support activities to provide effective customer support and technical assistance with various products or equipment. Leads a small to medium sized team of support engineers and technicians assigning work, defining responsibilities, monitoring team performance and aligning activities to fulfill business objectives. Provides hiring, promotion and disciplinary action recommendations, as well as performance evaluation and feedback for direct reports. Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers. Job Description Key Responsibilities The focus of this role is to ensure the supportability of products by leading the Supportability team in helping to shape the design for support and developing the support solution architecture. Responsible for the first line supervision of the Supportability team, including effectively leading, mentoring, and developing existing staff. Provide technical direction and define Supportability strategy. Tailor the scope and scale of ILS activities to meet the User, Customer, and Ultras requirements. Work collaboratively with designers to improve the reliability, maintainability, and usability aspects of Ultra''s designs. Provide input to the development of the optimum support solution for each customer, within the context of a wider product and capability roadmap. Complete life cycle cost analyses, level of repair analyses, failure modes and effects analyses. Elicit and derive support requirements and proposing verification methods for requirements. Develop supportability cases and conduct analyses to provide progressive assurance of support solutions. Perform reliability modelling and undertake maintainability analyses to optimize support arrangements. Assess the human element of systems, including the potential for human error as a contributor to system failures. Prepare, or provide input to, technical manuals such as troubleshooting guides or operations and maintenance manuals. Assist with the identification and mitigation of hazards through system hazard analysis. Recommend design improvements based on analyses completed. Support the continuous improvement of processes, policies and procedures as related to the Supportability department. Required Skills, Qualification and Experience: Bachelor''s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. Minimum of 3 years experience in Line Management duties for staff, including personal development, training and education. Minimum of 5 years experience in delivering Supportability activities and direction on multiple projects. Knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas, with the ability to review work produced by domain specialists across the others: Integrated Logistics Support LCC, LORA, sparing, obsolescence, etc. Operational Analysis & Whole Life Cost Modelling Business Case Analysis, Availability Trade-Off Analysis, etc. Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and System Safety Reliability Prediction, RBDs, FTAs, FMEAs, Robustness Growth, MTAs, Common Cause Analysis, Zonal Analysis, FRACAS/DRACAS, etc. Asset Management Training Development, Design and Delivery. Understanding of budgets and resource allocation. The Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company. Desired Skills: Experience using Omega PS or Omega PS Analyzer is considered an asset. Experience using PTC Windchill, Isograph, or other modelling software is considered an asset. Military Defense Industry experience, or alternatively Reliability experience within Energy, Power or Mining Industry. Experience managing sub-contracted work.
