Job Description

The Head of Geology is a senior leadership role overseeing mineral resource development across all deposits. This role ensures accurate, reliable, and compliant resource estimates (NI 43-101, SK 1300) and leads global geological functions, including resource modeling, geostatistical estimation, and reconciliation against production data. The Head of Geology integrates geological insights into mine planning, ensuring operational efficiency, resource optimization, and sustainability.Main AccountabilitiesMineral Resource Development & Estimation Lead the development of comprehensive mineral resource models for global operations and projects, incorporating geological, geophysical, and geochemical data. Oversee geostatistical estimation and classification of resources (Measured, Indicated, Inferred) to guide operational decisions and regulatory disclosures. Act as a Qualified Person (QP) for mineral resource disclosure per NI 43-101 and SK 1300 standards. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards and prepare technical reports for external stakeholders. Implement resource reconciliation processes, aligning models with production data to optimize extraction. Collaborate with mine planning, geotechnical, and processing teams to integrate geological insights into operations. Provide strategic guidance on resource development, technical risks, and growth opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions.Regulatory Compliance & Disclosure Lead preparation and review of technical reports and resource statements for public disclosure. Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy in resource reporting.Provide expert geological support to mining operations, integrating geological data into decision-making. Work closely with mine planning and operations teams to optimize mine designs and production scheduling. Develop and implement global geological standards, ensuring consistency and best practices. Conduct regular reviews and audits to maintain alignment with corporate objectives and industry regulations. Lead technical assurance processes, ensuring geological work adheres to corporate standards. Identify and manage geological risks, developing mitigation strategies. Provide senior leadership with updates on resource status, risks, and opportunities for optimization.Champion new geological technologies, including 3D modeling, automated geostatistics, and AI-driven tools. Drive digital transformation to enhance efficiency in data collection, resource modeling, and estimation.
