Position Job Title: Social Media CoordinatorLocation: Remote (Canada)Reports To: Social Media Specialist GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools Associate Vice President of Marketing GUS Medical and Veterinary SchoolsPrimary PurposeThe Social Media Coordinator will support the GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools marketing team in managing and executing social media strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in social media content creation, community management and performance tracking. A strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role. This position provides a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while contributing to the growth and engagement of our online community.Specific ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing and executing social media strategies to increase engagement and brand awareness across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, etc.Create, schedule and publish content, including copywriting engaging captions that align with the brands voice.Edit and produce short-form videos for social media, including Reels and TikTok.Design visually appealing graphics and templates using tools like Canva.Track and analyze social media performance using platform analytics and reporting tools.Monitor social media trends, algorithm changes and best practices to optimize content performance.Engage with the community by responding to comments, messages and interactions.Conduct social listening to stay on top of brand mentions, sentiment, and trending topics.Answer comments, messages and monitor social media for user engagement.Conduct competitor research to identify trends and insights to inform content strategy.Assist in preparing and presenting monthly social media and social listening reports to track growth, engagement and areas for improvement.Assist in the promotion of online and in-person recruitment events through social media and marketing materials.Ensure brand consistency by maintaining quality control and adhering to brand guidelines.Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure high-quality output and timely execution of campaigns.Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate and align marketing efforts.Assist with day-to-day marketing activities as needed.Position RequirementsCompetencies:Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite, Buffer) and content scheduling platforms.Basic understanding of social media advertising on platforms like Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and Google Ads.Familiarity with website analytics tools, including Google Analytics and social media insights tools.Strong ability to manage multiple social media platforms and campaigns simultaneously.Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and content quality.Comfortable working with social media metrics and data to track performance and optimize campaigns.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while adapting to new trends and tools.Up-to-date with the latest social media trends, algorithms, and best practices.Understanding of basic data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) in relation to social media content.Education and Experience:Bachelors degree in marketing or a related field.Minimum of 1 year of experience in marketing or a related field.Proficiency with Canva, social media management software, and video editing tools.Previous experience in the higher education sector is a plus.Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.We greatly appreciate your time and efforts in applying for the position at GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools, however, please note only successful candidates will be contacted.
