Job Description

Our client, the largest R&D, Remediation, & Decommissioning organization in Canada is seeking a Fire Protection Manager to lead and oversee fire protection engineering and compliance across multiple sites. This senior role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of fire technical services and fire systems while managing a team of engineers, specialists, and system owners. Key Responsibilities: Oversee fire protection technical services and systems to maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and code requirements. Implement and enforce fire protection policies, procedures, and best practices across all sites. Lead fire hazard analyses, fire safe shutdown assessments, and code compliance reviews. Ensure fire protection system installation, operation, inspection, testing, and maintenance meet required standards. Provide technical expertise for fire safety improvements and evaluate fire protection system designs. Manage fire protection program budgets, resource planning, and team capabilities to align with organizational needs. Guide and support project leads, compliance teams, and site management in fire safety initiatives. Address fire protection system impairments and provide corrective actions for emergent breakdowns. Develop succession plans for key positions and ensure continuous improvement within the fire protection program. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelors degree in Engineering with 8-10 years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering or specialization. Licensed by a provincial engineering association. Expertise in fire protection fundamentals, building construction, fire alarm systems, hydraulic sprinkler design, and related fields. Strong knowledge of National Building Code, National Fire Code, NFPA standards, and CSA N-293/N-393. Experience in reviewing and improving fire protection system designs for compliance. Proven leadership in managing teams, particularly within a unionized environment. Ability to oversee budgets, contracts, and long-term planning for fire safety operations.
