In this role, you will be a crucial link between our engineering and supply chain departments, driving cost reduction and component optimization for our battery energy storage products. You will collaborate closely with our mechanical and electrical engineers to identify and source alternative components and propose cost saving design solutions, ensuring we meet performance requirements while achieving cost-effectiveness. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, supply chain dynamics, and a passion for sustainable energy solutions. The RoleSalary: $90,000 - $120,000 per yearLocation: In-person, Moment Energy Coquitlam OfficeBenefits:3 weeks paid vacation plus 1 week off between Christmas and New Year's Extended health, dental, and vision benefits plan RRSP matchingRegular company socials, events and weekly fitness and yoga Free electric vehicle charging Open and collaborative company culture!ResponsibilitiesTechnical Component Evaluation:Work closely with engineering teams to understand the technical requirements and functionalities of BESS components.Research and identify alternative components that meet performance needs.Analyze and recommend component specifications, datasheets, and performance data to evaluate suitability.Conduct technical evaluations of potential suppliers and their manufacturing capabilities.Support the Supply Chain Manager in executing sourcing strategies for identified components.Support the qualification process for new components and suppliers.Engineering:BOM creation, while collaborating with engineering teams.Proactively identify component substitution, design optimization, and process improvements.Contribute to and support BOM development, source secondary vendors for all critical components. Contribute to value engineering initiatives by proposing alternative materials, manufacturing processes, and design modifications.Cross-functional Collaboration:Build strong working relationships with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.Participate in design reviews and provide input on component selection and sourcing strategies.Communicate effectively with suppliers on technical specifications and requirements.Continuously research and stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging component technologies in the battery and renewable energy sectors.The CandidateWere looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).Previous engineering experience with heavy supply chain collaboration. Must have knowledge of battery equipment including; battery management systems, inverters, charge controllers.Previous experience working on BESS is highly desirable. Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.Experience with supply chain management principles and practices is a plus.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities.Bonus Points:Experience working with sustainable or circular economy business models.Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements related to battery disposal and recycling.Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing processes is preferred.
