Toronto's new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.Role OverviewThe SUSS Superintendent is an experienced superintendent responsible for the overall coordination, supervision and execution of all the construction activities on the SUSS (Step-Up Substation), including but not limited to earth works, deep foundation, underground utilities, civil structures, roadway, landscaping, structural and architectural. This role involves managing multiple construction operations and subcontractors to ensure the project milestones and deadlines are met within schedule and budget while maintaining the highest quality, environmental and safety standards in compliance with the appropriate regulations.Role and ResponsibilitiesSupervise all construction activities, including planning, coordination, execution and close-out of all construction activities on the SUSS.Ensure the construction activities are completed according to the project specifications, schedule and budget.Ensure and verify compliance of all Health and Safety standards, internal policies, codes and regulations that might be applicable for specific works. Track and monitor project progress, identifying any delays or issues that may affect the project timeline.Ensure adherence of the environmental and quality project specifications.Supervise and direct in house and subcontractor workers on site.Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and regular site inspections to identify and mitigate risks.Investigate and report safety incidents or near-misses, ensuring corrective measures are taken promptly.Maintain quality control on-site, ensuring construction work meets all specifications, codes, and quality standards.Produce weekly construction progress reports.Document daily site operations, including safety logs, inspection reports and daily production.Maintain clear, timely, and effective communication with all parties involved in the project, including clients, engineers, subcontractors, project managers and other departments.Identify and resolve challenges on-site, such as technical issues, resource shortages, or schedule delays.Communicate with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to address concerns and provide project updates.Collaborate with specialized teams (quality, H&S, scheduling) to address interface issues and maintain compliance. While not the direct lead for quality or H&S, actively monitor and uphold quality and safety standards, escalate issues as needed, and support resolution in partnership with the respective leads.Collaborate with the technical/design team to manage project deliverables, including RFIs, field changes, redlines, and as-built documentation.Review and interpret project schedules (e.g., primavera P6), providing critical input and feedback to scheduling teams.Develop short-term (e.g., three-week) lookahead schedules to guide immediate work priorities and maintain momentum.Skills and QualificationsBachelors degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferredMinimum of 8 years of experience in construction management or as a Site Superintendent.Minimum of 5 years of experience in large scale infrastructure and transit P3 projects.Familiar with the requirements and processes of working in proximity to a rail corridor.Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety and environmental regulations, scheduling strong attitude reading design documentation.Proven track of project successes with a team collaboration mindset.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Strong leadership and team management abilities.Effective communication and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in construction software and tools.WORK ENVIRONMENTAt WeBuild, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture that promotes gender equity and the recruitment of under-represented groups at all levels of our workforce.
