Job Title: SQL Database Administrator & Application Administrator (On-Premise) Location: Oakville, Canada (Hybrid)Job Type: Contract (6 months) This position is not open to agencies.Job Description: Overview: We are seeking a skilled On-Premise SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with experience in application administration to join our team. This role requires a hands-on professional who is not only proficient in managing SQL Server environments but also comfortable supporting and maintaining third-party applications such as Niche RMS and Hexagonsolutions commonly used in policing and public safety environments. Key Responsibilities: SQL Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain on-prem SQL Server databases Perform regular maintenance, patching, and performance tuning Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies Ensure database security and compliance with internal standards Monitor system health and troubleshoot database issues Application Administration: Provide administrative support for applications including Niche and Hexagon Perform upgrades, user configuration, and general maintenance Work with internal stakeholders and vendors to troubleshoot application issues Maintain documentation and support procedures for applications Required Skills & Experience: 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in an on-premise environment Strong expertise in SQL Server installation, performance tuning, backup, and recovery Experience supporting enterprise or policing-specific applications Comfortable with application admin responsibilities in addition to core DBA tasks Ability to troubleshoot system-wide issues across infrastructure and software layers Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders Nice to Have: Previous experience supporting Niche RMS, Hexagon, or similar policing applications Familiarity with public safety IT environments or secure systems Certifications in SQL Server or relevant technologies About Buchanan Technologies Since Buchanans inception over 30 years ago, we have operated on 5 core values People Matter, Customers Matter, Principles Matter, Community Matters, and Every Interaction Matters.
