As Fortis resident Architect, you will manage a variety of diverse projects from the initial design phase through to the contract administration. The successful candidate will possess expert knowledge and understanding of design build and construction management projects in the ICI & low/mid-rise residential sectors and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment on the technical aspects of architectural projects. This role reports directly to the VP of Pre-Construction and Estimating with no direct reports.Job Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Contract administrationManage all incoming and outgoing project tenders and design builds & play a lead role in all design build projectsPrepare architectural working drawings & construction details & specificationsReview potential scopes and compliance as it relates to quality controlMeet clients to establish the scope of work, timelines, budgets, and workflow requirements to create a detailed design concept from start to finishDevelop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans to ensure timely and cost-effective project deliveryPreparation of architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirementsConduct regular project meetings, prepare progress reports, and communicate project status updates to key stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectivesEnsure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations throughout the design and construction phases of the projectCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including ownership, respective departments, clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to facilitate project progress and resolve issues that ariseCollaborate with internal teams i.e. Development, Project ManagementQualifications:Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture, or equivalent10+ years of experience working in an architect role and/or architectural experienceProfessional Architectural license (OAA) considered an assetStrong understanding of Ontario Building Code (OBC), zoning bylaws, and site plan control processesExperienced in design build and construction management projectsExperience working on ICI, recreational, and low/mid-rise residential projectsKnowledge and experience producing 3D models and 2D drawings using Revit and AutoCAD in a BIM environmentFamiliarity with Bluebeam, SmartBid, and PlanSwift considered an assetUnderstanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsAbility to collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative, critical and pragmatic thoughtStrong focus on quality and the ability to check your own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleA strong visual eye, ability to create aesthetic, functional layouts, and a passion for innovative designDetail oriented and possesses great communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to operate independently or with minimal supervisionDedicated to servicing our clients with total satisfactionWhy Fortis?
