Their teams worldwide are committed to innovation and creating value for clients.About the ProjectCross Fraser Partnership (CFP) is a Bouygues Construction Canada Inc., Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada Ltd., Pomerleau BC Inc. and Arcadis Canada Inc. general partnership that has been selected to collaboratively deliver a new, eight-lane immersed tube tunnel that will replace the existing George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99. The new tunnel will have three vehicle lanes and a dedicated transit lane in each direction, with a separated active transportation corridor for cyclists and pedestrians.Position Overview:Materials Specialist with experience in the local Vancouver market, specializing in concrete and construction materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regional suppliers, market trends, and material sourcing, with the ability to optimize cost-effective solutions for construction projects. This role requires close collaboration with design, procurement, quality and construction teams to optimize material performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical expertise on the selection and application of materials for tunnel constructionSource and procure construction materials, particularly concrete, from local suppliers within Vancouver and the surrounding areas.Conduct material testing, quality assurance, and durability assessments for key materials such as concrete, steel, waterproofing membranes, and fireproof coatings.Assess and recommend materials based on quality, availability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.Monitor local market trends, including pricing, availability, and new products, to ensure competitive advantage for the company.Establish and maintain relationships with the Consultants, procurement, local suppliers, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality materials.Provide technical expertise and support to project teams regarding material selection, application, and troubleshooting.Collaborate with project managers to develop material procurement schedules and budget forecasts.Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, ISO, BS, EN, AASHTO) , project specifications, environmental and sustainability regulations related to material use.Participate in the evaluation of new materials and technologies for potential integration into projects.Address material-related challenges, recommending alternative materials as needed.Monitor material performance and lifecycle to ensure sustainability and cost-effectiveness.Job Requirements:Proficiency in material testing techniques, laboratory procedures, and field inspections.Strong understanding of construction materials (e.g., concrete mixes, reinforcement steel, shotcrete, grout, waterproofing systems).Experience in material procurement, supplier evaluation, and contract management.Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for material tracking and management is a plus.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Education and qualifications:Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.8-12 years of experience in material selection, testing, and quality control for large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably tunnels.Why You Should Apply RRSP with 5% matchingCareer Advancement, training and education opportunitiesTravel allowanceMinimum four weeks vacationThe expected salary range for this opportunity is $180,000 $260,000.
