Job Description

Our client is a personal injury firm in downtown Ottawa. We are looking for an ambitious self-starter, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, to join our growing firm as Law Clerk. A successful Law Clerk will provide administrative and legal support to lawyers, ensuring efficient management of legal processes and documentation. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and draft legal documents, correspondence, and reports.Conduct legal research and summarize findings.Assist with the preparation and filing of court documents and forms.Manage and organize client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.Schedule appointments, meetings, and court appearances.Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties as directed by lawyers.Assist in the preparation of case materials for court and hearings.Maintain and update case management systems.Handle billing and invoicing procedures.Perform other administrative tasks as required.Qualifications:Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Legal Assistant Diploma, Paralegal Certificate).At least 3 years of experience as a Law Clerk or in a similar role.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Familiarity with legal research tools and case management software.Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.High attention to detail and accuracy.Assets:Experience in civil litigation or injury law.Knowledge of Ontario court procedures and legal practices.
