A successful candidate would stay abreast of industry technology and developments and have the ability to adopt new and improved hardware and systems for our solutions. Furthermore, they would provide direction, training and guidance and regularly review the work performed by each team member. Staff would trust and respect the leadership and decisions made in the four major areas of electrical engineering that include:Electrical circuity and electrical systems design for industrial machinery.PLC Programming, machinery start-up, commissioning, and operator training.Software development (machine controls, IoT, analytics)Customer support (warranty, service)Role & ResponsibilitiesAs a senior member of our Engineering team reporting to the VP of Engineering, we are looking for this person to:Lead a growing team of 10 engineers, drive their career development, develop their talent, and ensure the team is high performing within a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative culture.Provide hands-on technical management, guidance, and support, including system/design/code review, and ultimately be responsible for the health of the systems your team builds.Apply strong knowledge of Servos, VFDs, PLCs (Bosch, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Schneider etc.)Communicate project team schedule milestones to department managers to allow for resource planning.Apply a customer-centric approach across the engineering organization to help the team craft and execute on a long-term roadmap of Samcos products and initiatives.Help prioritize work for the team, making difficult trade-offs on design or priorities based on business constraints, ensuring on-time deliverables and high-quality software.Create, evolve, and enforce electrical design standards.Approve quotations and supplier P.O.s prior to starting a project.Participate in Kick-off meetings for new projects.Review and approve engineering drawing packages for manufacturing and identify budget and schedule for delivery.Conduct design reviews with the customer and design team.Obtain formal or informal concept/design approval and formal equipment approval from customers.Work closely with the Project Management team during the development, shipment and installation of equipment, and act as primary contact for the customer when needed.Approve design changes to be manufactured with or without formal customer consent.Conduct equipment reviews with customer, design, and assembly teams.Review the status of purchased items and materials.Generate and maintain project open issues lists and build schedules through the different stages of projects.Develop, maintain and report on key performance metrics.Participate in monthly department report-out management meetings.Coordinate project review meetings, customer FAT visit, Runoff, and closeout/lessons learned meetings.Support and implement procedures and systems for the effective organization and easy retrieval of all project records and documentation.Support the collection of records for all development and innovation projects for SRED submissions.Recruit and represent Samcos hiring brand and culture.Qualifications5+ years of project management experience in Automation or Design and Assembly of Industrial Machinery.Completion of a university/college program in engineering, engineering technology, or electrical engineering.A PMP certificate or equivalent experience in project management is an asset.Working knowledge of various design software, such as AutoCAD electrical.Good working knowledge of electrical, controls and pneumatic systems, Servos, VFDs, etc.Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills.Outstanding organization skills and ability to plan, coordinate and monitor projects with a broad range of internal and external personnel.Strong management skills to promote the optimum performance of reporting staff.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong customer service skills.What We OfferCompetitive compensationComprehensive benefits package, including health and dental coverageEligibility for overtime with an overtime rateRRSP matching programTeam-oriented environmentDiverse and inclusive workplaceOpportunities for growth and professional developmentOpportunities for travelOther AccommodationsSamco Machinery Ltd. is committed to applying the principles and guidelines of the AODA and strives to provide services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities.
