Pre Construction ManagerSalary: 190,000 - 200,000Location: Calgary, Alberta or Edmonton, AlbertaAre you a seasoned construction professional with a strong technical background in estimating, pre-construction planning, and execution? We're looking for a skilled individual to support our estimating and construction teams by ensuring project feasibility, constructability, and efficiency.Responsibilities:Estimating Support & Pre-Construction PlanningProvide constructability support to the estimating team for project bids.Review project scopes and RFQ (Request for Quotation) plans to ensure technical accuracy.Evaluate RFQ responses to confirm compliance with specifications and field execution needs.Identify potential risks, constructability challenges, and scheduling constraints across mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation scopes.Compile and deliver all pre-construction documentation to the estimating team in a timely manner.Project Scope & Execution PlanningDevelop and manage site crew pods within the manpower loading chart.Create comprehensive manpower loading plans for both direct and indirect labor.Develop shift-by-shift or activity-based Construction Execution Plans (CEP).Identify rental equipment and specialty services required for site execution.Coordinate with the estimating team to refine work breakdown structures for scheduling.Procurement & Logistics CoordinationDevelop and oversee shipping plans for materials and equipment.Assist in procurement strategies and coordinate with vendors for critical materials.Manage rental equipment logistics to optimize cost efficiency and utilization.Communication & DocumentationProvide regular updates on project readiness, constructability concerns, and risk factors.Ensure all supporting documents, schedules, and reports are well-organized and accessible.Liaise with stakeholders to clarify requirements and align expectations.Who You Are:10+ years of experience in construction management, estimating, or pre-construction planning.Degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field.Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and concrete construction.Proficiency in manpower scheduling, procurement logistics, and RFQ assessments.Experience using construction software and project management tools.Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with estimators, project managers, and field teams.Background in third-party/general contracting (not client-side).Additional Details:This role manages projects and work, not people.Reports to the VP of Projects, while working closely with the estimating and construction teams.Whats in It for You?Competitive compensation.Comprehensive benefits, including extended health care (medical, dental, vision, mental health).Three weeks of vacation annually.Group RRSP, life insurance, AD&D, and critical illness coverage.Paid safety orientations.A supportive company culture with growth opportunities.If youre a highly technical construction professional with estimating and field experience, apply today and be part of an industry-leading team!
