This includes facilitating and managing the Reinsurance Working Group and the Segregated Fund Guarantee Standard Approach Working Group.Plays a key advisory role and provides actuarial support for accounting and pension files.Develops and maintains favourable relationships with industry players, both within CLHIAs membership and other industry-related 'allies' or advocacy partners/stakeholders, relevant to pursuing the industry's policy interests with government and regulators.This includes key players in standard setting bodies (Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA)) and advocacy groups such as the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA). Contributes to a favourable regulatory/legislative environment by preparing appropriate written submissions or other communications to advance industry positions. Participates on CIA and SOA committees and the GFIA working group on capital and reinsurance to keep abreast of emerging developments and to influence the development of standards and regulations in Canada and internationally. Maintains awareness of developments from other international bodies including the IAIS and the FSB.Maintains an in-depth understanding of the environment, domestic and international, affecting member companies. Prepares analysis and actuarial models to demonstrate the implications/impact of legislative/regulatory changes or changes to standards on the industrys operations and develops and implements action plans to address industry concerns, including preparing related member communications. Contributes to corporate governance such as preparation of briefing materials for Corporate Services Standing Committee, member communications and other internal and external initiatives.Contributes to a favourable image of the life and health insurance industry as a subject matter expert for capital and reinsurance files by effectively communicating and promoting the industrys interests with stakeholder groups, government, and regulatory bodies.
