We are a family of four in NW Calgary, looking for full time night caregivers for our 6 month old son. Due to a rare genetic mutation called ABCA3, our son requires ventilation via tracheostomy in order to help him breathe long term. As a result he needs to be closely observed at all times. He also has a G-Tube that he is fed through and will require feeds throughout the night. Otherwise he is a healthy, happy baby who is developmentally typical. We are primarily focused on finding individuals who will be a good fit for our family, who will genuinely care about our son. Someone who can stay AWAKE and ALERT during night shifts is of the utmost importance and who can follow procedures in an emergency. The medical aspects of our son''s care are relatively simple and could be learned on the job. Qualifications: - Medical education/experience is NOT required but is preferred, e.g. Licensed Practical Nurse, Health Care Aide, student in a health care program, certified health care professional in country of origin -Experience caring for infants or small children is preferred -Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search completed in the last 6 months - Read/write/speak English - Preferred but not mandatory: previous experience with tracheostomy patients - G-Tube care and feeding Personal attributes: - Kind and empathetic -Strong communication skills -Attention to detail -Capable of acting quickly and calmly in an emergency -Comfortable with a small-sized dog in the home Responsibilities: - Ensure safety, well-being, and comfort of the child: continuous vital signs monitoring, periodic suctioning, diapering, feeding through G-Tube, medication administration through G-Tube - Maintain accurate charting - Maintain inventory of medical supplies and assist with ordering stock -Clean equipment and surfaces related to child''s care Pay Rate $22-28 per hour, dependent on qualifications Tentative start date of ASAP How To Apply: Please indicate your interest by submitting your cover letter and resume, including at least three references, to Questions are also welcomed
