Photo from the Inclusion Alberta website Job Description: A full time job working with Special needs clients to help them with their work, programs, activities and daily living. The worker will plan and coordinate activities focused on helping the clients become more independent, physically fit and have a fulfilling life. Overview: For the lucky applicant, this job is a lot of fun. This summer we have had boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing, paddle boards, hiking, camping, weiner roasts (not in Calgary), beach days, Calaway Park, Heritage Park, Zoo, Movies, Corn busts, picnics, cycling and gardening. We have painted ceramics, rocks and fingernails. Crocheted, knitted, made modeling clay projects, baking, sewing, colouring and origami projects. I am looking for someone who has a positive attitude and likes to make life fun. I expect staff to work alongside the clients and set a good example.This takes a lot of patience. We work with the clients to dress and have proper hygiene. We help them clean, and do dishes and laundry and chores. Support workers should be kind, empathetic, reliable and calm under stress. A good understanding of CPI and Inclusion is essential for this job. Job Requirements: Vehicle, clean driving abstract, Experience with or Education for special needs clients. Applicants must be able to swim and ride a bike. Must speak English clearly. An aptitude for arts and crafts is useful. Must be a high energy, physically active person. Must be good with animals, (no allergies.) weekend shifts. Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required. Non-smoking and No perfumes. Sample Day: Greet clients and review prior shifts Double Check the clients have everything they need Work with the client or do a learning activity with the client Eat lunch with the client Finish work or activities Bring the client Home Help clients clean out their bag of garbage and food Plan and organize for future outings.
