Articling students are also given the opportunity to attend trial as second chair with experienced litigation lawyers. We believe in learning by doing (with proper mentorship) and do not see articling as a job where students spend their time reviewing large volumes of documents and drafting memos.As a personal injury firm, we sue large corporations on behalf of people who generally lack power. Our goal is to provide legal services that only the wealthiest people can afford to anyone regardless of their ability to pay. At Preszler Injury Lawyers BC, we foster a supportive environment where students can develop into well-rounded, skilled lawyers.The RoleThe student will be involved in:Legal research and drafting pleadings.Drafting chambers applications.Arguing chambers applications.Assisting with trial and mediation preparation.Attending trial.Client interviews and evidence gathering.Observing and participating in court proceedings.Observing and participating in examinations for discovery and mediations.Learning the administrative and procedural aspects of running a law firm.Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized Canadian or international law school.Strong academic record and legal research skills.Demonstrated interest in personal injury law or access to justice.Demonstrated resilience in work or otherwise.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Salary and Benefits:The expected salary for this position is approximately $50,000 to $55,000 annually; however, the final compensation package will be based on the candidates experience, skills, and qualifications.Coverage of Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC) fees.Extended health and dental benefits.Opportunity for hire back as an associate upon successful completion of the articling term.Application Deadline11:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, Friday, March 28, 2025.
