JOB AREA:Design Engineer; Marine Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)Barrier Marine Services (Canada) Ltd is looking for a Senior Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) designer with solid knowledge and experience in Marine HVAC design and rules to join the company. The successful candidate will fill the role of HVAC Design Engineer, reporting to the HVAC Technical lead, as part of a dynamic team working on every step of the design from concept, through fabrication, to installation and commissioning.LOCATION:1371 McKeen Avenue, North Vancouver BCV7P 3H9 CanadaPOSITION TERMS: Full-time, Permanent employeeRENUMERATION: CA$90,000 to CA$130,000 annually (to be negotiated). Details presented with employment offer.EXPERIENCE:5+ Years in Shipbuilding (Cruise or Naval/Coast Guard).3+ Years will be considered with a relevant advanced post-graduate degree.The following outlines the job description in more detail:Expert in HVAC concept, basic, and detail design.Project progress tracking and reportingWrite HVAC systems specificationsOversee and review heat load calculations, ventilation volume calculations, noise calculations, and pressure drop calculations.Production of HVAC D&IDs, P&IDs, and one-line diagramsProduction of HVAC Commissioning TEST MemosReview and advise on chiller and heating plant calculationsCoordinate and integrate HVAC systems in deck areas and ACR using different 3D softwareRead, comprehend, and interpret customer specifications and requirementsCoordinate and oversee Construction, Commissioning, and Operational Optimization activitiesLeads and manages the interfacing and coordination of program delivery and customer expectationsConsults and communicates with clients with respect to equipment selectionGuidance and mentoring of Jr. HVAC Designers and TechniciansSpecific application of Marine industry regulations (LR, SOLAS, etc.)BASIC QUALIFICATIONMechanical Engineering, or a similar field. University degree preferred (BSc and/or MSc). 5+ years experience in a similar Marine Industry position Major shipyard. Languages: proficiency in English. Knowledge of French will be an advantageADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONSAbility to work in a team environment with rapidly changing priorities and multiple tasks with critical concurrent deadlinesSelf-motivated and able to identify and take action on potential issues and problemsAbility to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-national teamHigh level of accountability, integrity, and ethics in the workplaceCompetency with load calculation software such as Carrier HAP and AUTOCADWillingness to travel internationally to support clients or suppliers in the field
