McEwen Mining Inc. has four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina, and also has exposure to copper through its subsidiary McEwen Copper, owner of the large Los Azules copper deposit in Argentina. Our goal is to further develop into a strong and profitable gold and silver producer, focused on the Americas. In order to do that, we need great talent. McEwen Mining currently has an opening at our Fox Complex Sites for a: Underground MechanicReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Underground Mechanic is primarily responsible for helping to service, maintain, and repair the full range of light and heavy equipment and vehicles operated by the mine such as, scoop trams, haulage Trucks pneumatic and electric/hydraulic jumbos, utility vehicles and a selection of stationery equipment, such as, compressors etc. They must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge and dedication to safety, production methods and equipment care. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.Operational / Technical Execution: Inspect, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, rebuild and maintain mobile underground and surface equipment such as LHDs, drills, haul trucks, and surface vehicles.Inspect, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, rebuild and maintain stationery and mobile equipment such as hoists, crusher, conveyor, air compressors and water pumpsReplace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.Perform general overhaul work on equipment and vehicles.Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specificationsDetermine equipment repair needs or estimate costs of repairs.Make field repairs as needed.Weld, cut repair, layout and fabricate specialized equipment from both formal and informal plans and verbal instructions.General Administration and ControlsAccurately update records related to work activities. Keep work area clean.Keep abreast of changes to industry standards.Propose necessary changes to systems, procedures, and equipment.Communicate status of repair, maintenance, or fabrication work.Ensure safe operations, inspect all components on a weekly basis for irregularities and malfunctions and record and log all inspection reports.Qualifications and Skills Requirement:Legal to work within Canada.Valid drivers license and a reliable means of transportationAbility to work safely and efficiently.Possess a canny attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to identify, analyze and resolve problemsPossess strong problem-solving skills while working under pressure requiring immediate response to issues.Good safety knowledge and understanding with the ability to recognize hazards and situations that may cause problems.Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments/roles within all levels of the organization.Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.The ability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment.A valid trade certificate is required.Must possess a provincial or inter-provincial ticket for underground heavy mobile equipment.Common Core Certificate/Accreditation for Basic Underground Hard Rock Mining Skills.3-5 years experience as mine mechanic (beat mechanic experience would be a plus) - underground experience and experienced on a variety of mobile and stationary mining equipment.
