We are seeking a full-time, permanent Safety Loss Control Technician within the Health & Safety Resources Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to all emergency and loss control situations throughout the organization, maintaining a safe work environment through effective communication, training, and the promotion of safety policies/procedures.Role and Responsibilities:Provide advanced first aid response and injury care services.Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.Engage daily with team members and contractors to ensure safety complianceConduct and assist with safety audits and investigations as a subject matter expert, to identify root causes to prevent reoccurrence.Lead emergency response teams, conducting in-house safety and emergency response training.Provide fire-fighting support, i.e. fire suppression systems and alarms, rescue and hazmat response.Additional duties as required.Qualifications and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent - copy of diploma or equivalent required. Current Advanced First Aid / EMR or higher-level certification. Emergency Response and Firefighting experience, NFPA 1001 and NFPA 1041 fire services instructor will be considered an asset.Willing to obtain Emergency Response Training (Hazmat, Confined Space, Rope Rescue, Incident Command Training, and Fire Operations) from a recognized institution.Completion of an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate will be considered an asset, completion of certification will be required within the first three years of employment.Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, particularly Excel & Gmail.Ability to work shift work (day and night shifts) in a physically demanding setting. Shutdown coverage and occasional short notice overtime paid at double the hourly rate.
