The Employee will be expected to perform the following general duties and specific duties as per the nature of each individual assignment at various locations in southern Ontario: Conduct inspection of roads and highway construction activities; as per MTO Construction Contract Administration Inspection Task Manual (CAITM/CAIS) and MTO Standards; Inspectors performing construction inspection for workmanship must have sound knowledge of design standards, specifications, and materials associated with the construction, Laws and Regulations including Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety requirements and their application in construction contracts. Photographic and Video Records (with date and time) of the site, site activities and all incidents Inspection and recording of site activities as per the tender documents, drawings and specifications Grade Checks Maintain detailed daily diaries of contractors work, contract progress and inspection milestones and ensure that the inspection tasks are completed and recorded in a prompt and accurate manner; Ensure that the contractor adheres to all contract requirements, including but not limited to legal, environmental, construction standards, and protection of wildlife, as per Contract Administrators direction; Monitor sampling of materials for quality assurance purposes; Ensure approved construction materials are used and acquired from approved sources and a record is kept of such materials; Ensure that the contractor applies the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHIMIS, Environmental Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Waste Management regulations in a manner consistent with the contract.
