Overview: Pretium is seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Superintendent who is responsible for the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of high-quality construction projects that meet company standards and exceed client expectations. This leadership role requires proactive management, coordination, and oversight of all on-site activities, including safety, scheduling, quality, and budget adherence. Strong proactive planning, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. The Project Director will report to Pretiums executive leadership and serve as a key liaison with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities are, but not limited to: 1. Pre-Construction Review project documents, including designs, specifications, addenda, and contracts. Actively participate in pre-construction handover meetings. Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize costs and schedule efficiencies without compromising quality or safety. Develop and submit pre-mobilization RFIs. Collaborate with clients, project managers, and executive leadership to align project goals and expectations. 2. Safety & Compliance Lead by example to create a zero-incident site safety culture. Conduct job site hazard assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Anticipate and work to protect the site from the risk of fires, floods, safety incidents, and theft. Conduct and document safety meetings, daily huddles, and toolbox talks. Monitor and enforce job site cleanliness and organization Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. 3. Strategic Planning and Leadership Define project goals, timelines, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with executive leadership and stakeholders. Establish reporting frameworks and communication protocols. Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration. Work closely with site management and staff to achieve project objectives. 4. Construction Execution Lead on-site activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and budgets. Maintain clear communication with the project team and Trade Partners. Lead weekly work planning meetings, including six-week look-ahead schedules. Coordinate site logistics, including staging, utilities, and mobilization. Supervise and coordinate Trade Partners, suppliers, and equipment to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to timelines. Manage RFIs, implementation of change orders, and quality control checks. Schedule and coordinate required inspections. Maintain accurate project documentation using SiteMax. Oversee construction schedules, Trade Partner and Pretium staff performance, address any lack of performance immediately. 5. Operational Leadership Lead, mentor, and influence team members and Trade Partners to ensure effective on-time project execution. Monitor project performance through schedule updates, feedback from Project Manager on Earned Value Management (EVM), and key performance indicators (KPIs). Optimize resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment, to achieve maximum efficiency. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. 6. Stakeholder Management Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between clients, regulatory bodies, and community representatives. Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, Consultants, and Trade Partners. Conduct weekly work plan meetings with Trade Partners to align expectations and deliverables. Build and maintain strong relationships with Owners to ensure repeat business. Foster fast, dependable, and quality work through strong relationships with Trade Partners and Consultants. 7. Financial Management Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and identifying opportunities for savings. Oversee monthly progress billing and ensure accurate, timely execution. Negotiate, review, and execute subcontracts alongside project managers. 8. Financial & Risk Management Work with the Project Manager to develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, especially General Expenses. Review General Expense invoices monthly with the Project Manager. Identify and mitigate potential project risks. 9. Risk and Issue Management Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure compliance with provincial, federal, and client-specific regulations 10. Quality Assurance and Quality Control Maintain rigorous QA/QC benchmarks through regular audits and inspections. Address non-conformances swiftly and effectively. 11. Team Development and Leadership Mentor and guide project managers and key team members. Foster a collaborative, innovative culture that drives results. 12 . Process Improvement, Technical, & Leadership Skills Provide leadership to inspire and guide teams. Expertise in construction best practices of constructability of components, systems, equipment, and materials. Collaborate with the Project Manager and Coordinator on schedule updates. Advocate for innovative construction practices and technologies. Continuously evaluate and refine processes to improve efficiency, quality, and project delivery. 13. Project Handover and Closure Oversee the transition from construction to operational readiness, including inspections, training, and final acceptance. Ensure the creation and transfer of Operation & Maintenance Manuals. Manage project insurance, rental returns, and utility documentation. Qualifications / Experience / Skills 5+ years of direct construction site superintendent management experience in the ICI buildings sector. Technical Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Safety & compliance management Budget & cost control Expertise in construction methods and contract types such as CCDC5B, CCDC2, CCDC5, and CCDC30. Strong skills in stakeholder management, commercial terms, and risk mitigation. Proven ability to lead complex and fast-paced projects. Ability to train and mentor project staff. PMP, GSC, LEAN, and other construction industry designations are considered an asset. Proficiency with project management software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project). Thorough knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
