This is an ideal position for an intermediate level Operations Manager with strong people skills. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling and overseeing daily operations for our construction projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. This role involves coordinating with project teams, managing resources, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement in processes and outcomes. The Operations Manager will also supervise, mentor and manage the daily activities of the Superintendents to achieve cost, schedule, quality, and employee safety and engagement goals as set by the Management Team. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred). Equivalent relevant experience will be considered Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in road construction or paving. Proven track record in managing large-scale construction projects and teams Previous leadership and team management at a senior level including performance management, employee engagement, leading and influencing Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards in road construction Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand engineer/architectural drawings and specifications and be able to perform take-offs for interpretation, quantities, construction methodology and scheduling Ability to effectively schedule and manage multiple crews, jobs and customers Ability to understand and utilize basic statistical and business math skills Ability to communicate effectively on all technical and business levels Must be well versed in reading understanding and analyzing financial reports and information Highly organized with strong time and process management skills Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Safety and Compliance Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors and consultants in compliance with Mainlands Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation Work with the safety team to implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures on all projects. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations Conduct regular safety audits and reviews Operations Management Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones; monitor progress against established schedules Lead daily schedule meeting, assist superintendents to make strategic schedule decisions Monitor progress and adjust plans to address delays or unexpected challenges Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality Employ continuous improvement and value initiatives to drive value to both internal and external clients. Leverage better tools, processes, and/or technology throughout the organization to drive excellence. Participate in bid reviews Track deficiency works and causal factors; Implement change as required to proactively prevent reoccurrence Participate in monthly WIP meeting Analyze production rates to determine trends and provide feedback to estimating department as required Manage administrative duties to include full detailed information (reports, status updates, etc.) including field log reviews Team Leadership Lead, motivate, and manage a team of superintendents, site supervisors, and crew members. Act as a mentor to Superintendents to assist them with daily issues that may arise Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development. Recruit, hire, mentor, coach and guide a team of superintendents, forepeople and trade workers to elevate staff potential & performance and foster an engaged and inclusive workplace culture Recognize and provide input for training needs, succession planning and performance evaluations Create a positive working environment through heightened participation and expansion with construction teams, fleet maintenance, and QA/QC departments to foster long term employee growth and commitment Ensure discipline matrix is enforced when required Quality Control Ensure quality expectations are communicated and monitored Implement process to ensure product quality is above acceptable standard Monitor trends in workmanship, take steps to improve as required Oversee quality assurance processes to meet project specifications and industry standards. Conduct site inspections and address any quality issues promptly Drive a continuous improvement mindset in processes and execution Monitor quality standards, ensuring projects meet both industry benchmarks and client satisfaction Resource Management and Financial Oversight Allocate resources effectively, including labour, equipment, and materials Manage subcontractor relationships and performance Maintain an effective relationship with Equipment and Shops Monitor costs and implement cost-control measures Track inventory of small equipment and tools (owned vs. rented) Maintain records of company vehicle allocations Client Relations Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through clear communication and responsive service. Address and resolve client concerns effectively Represent Mainland to the external environment including clients, businesses, and professional associations to enhance Mainland''s positive public profile Attend industry association functions, committee meetings, and seminars to keep current of applicable information to support business growth as required
