Reporting to the Shipping & Variable Retention Time (VRT) Manager, the Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for the management of all aspects of the Variable Retention Time Freezer (VRT), in accordance with Company specifications. Responsible for ensuring that loads get out on time while following all GMPs and BRC regulations. Ensure that all employees follow the product and employee safety policies and procedures. Prepare and validate completion of preventative maintenance and all HACCP related forms. Responsible for regular housekeeping and upkeep within the department. Coordinates departmental scheduling. a. Operators, palletizers, shippers and shunters. Responsible for ensuring all products being shipped and received and packaged as per approved procedures to avoid damage. Assists the Shipping/VRT Manager in planning and organizing warehouse activities relating to Shipping & Receiving, transportation, receiving returns, order filling, inventory control, and storage. Acts as a backup operator in emergencies and vacations. Acts as backup for VRT& Shipping Manager. Responsible for establishing and monitoring departmental KPIs, Daily Operating Report. Coordinate scheduling of products flow throughout VRT operations and employees to accommodate. People Supervision: a. Organize and supervise the activities and work of a small team of subordinates to ensure that all assigned work activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner. b. Provide formal and informal feedback to subordinates to ensure their continuous development and overall contribution to the achievement of Maple Lodge Farms business strategy. c. Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters. d. Develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching. Budgeting: a. Monitor the financial performance of area of responsibility against approved budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized on. Policies, Processes & Procedures a. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. b. Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of improved Warehousing processes, policies and procedures. c. Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures. What you will bring: Three to five years of experience in the food industry, preferably in a ready-to-eat and unionized environment; Shipping and receiving experience is an asset. Mechanical aptitude Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.; Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS; Team-player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively, and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders; Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities; Knowledge of process improvement tools; Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential; Computer literacy (MS Office). Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical systems. High School Diploma. BT / Forklift License is an asset Maple Lodge Farms was established in 1955.
