Insight Global is looking for an Intermediate Planner to join the Land Use team at a Civil Engineering company in Peterborough Ontario. This is a hybrid role and requires 3 days on site in the Peterborough office per week. Reporting to the Planning Department Manager, the Intermediate Land Use Planner is responsible for leading a broad range of statutory and delegated land use planning functions and services. They lead the land use planning process, manage projects, consult with relevant parties, and complete reporting for land use planning projects. Key Responsibilities: Manage and lead complex land use planning projects involving a range of fields, including but not limited to residential, commercial, industrial development, and resource planning sectors. Prepare and lead proposals for various land use planning projects for public and private clients. Act as a subject matter expert in land use planning, providing guidance on municipal and provincial regulations, policy frameworks, and best practices. Oversee the preparation of land use planning project reporting/documentation for municipal approval. Consult and liaise with project participants, including clients and government agencies, while maintaining open and transparent communication. Attend pre-consultation meetings, committees, and council meetings on behalf of clients. Lead and support the interdepartmental staff and project managers in carrying out land use planning projects. Lead, coordinate, and oversee the development of consultation plans and open houses to support planning applications and projects. Participate in Ontario Land Tribunals, as required. Problem-solve where issues have been identified (i.e., field operational constraints, scheduling conflicts, unforeseen issues, competing priorities, etc.). Oversee administrative duties, including but not limited to preparing proposals, project work plans, scheduling spreadsheets, and budget and cost estimates. Liaise with internal and external contacts, including attending and participating in project-related meetings, providing progress reports on deliverables, and other duties. Participate in the short and long-term priorities and objectives including specific department business development initiatives. Required Skills & Experience: Bachelors degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning, Geography, or related field. Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in land use planning, with a proven track record in managing complex projects. Candidate must be a full member or actively working towards membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), ensuring compliance with professional planning standards. Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of project management, project budget development and cost control. In-depth knowledge of Ontarios planning legislation, regulations, and policies, including the Planning Act, and municipal bylaws, ensuring compliance and effective application in land use planning. Extensive knowledge of current and emerging planning issues. Ability to prepare professional reports and presentations. Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to provide excellent customer service throughout the consultation process by keeping participants informed and responding to inquiries with expertise and promptness.
