Vice President, Early-Stage Contract Research Organization (CRO) Organization: Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization (https://cpdc.ca/) Position: Vice President, Early-Stage Contract Research Organization (CRO) (preclinical radiopharmaceutical development) Location: Canada (remote) with the expectation of travel as required for client engagements and industry events Overview: As a member of the Executive team, and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President Contract Research Organization (CRO) will build and lead a new, early-stage (research / preclinical) radiopharmaceutical CRO business with responsibility for business development, CRO site development, and project leadership. This position requires an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader with a strong background in preclinical drug development able to create a vision for and build a new CRO business; establish productive partnerships with clients and project stakeholders; and recruit and lead a multi-disciplinary radiopharmaceutical team. Strategic Leadership Develop and execute the organizations business strategy, focusing on client acquisition, revenue and profit growth, and operational excellence. Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the radiopharmaceutical industry, including biotech and pharmaceutical companies, academic researchers, and radiopharmaceutical contract service providers. Drive the organizations vision, ensuring alignment with industry trends and client needs, and CPDCs mission and values. In partnership with the Executive team participate in planning and execution of expansions and organizational alliances. In conjunction with Executive team identify potential innovations and opportunities and develop relationships to provide a pipeline for the future. 2. Scientific and Operational Management Provide scientific and technical leadership across radiopharmaceutical projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives. Build and oversee a team including project managers and a network of consultants and specialists to provide high-quality, flexible, and scalable solutions to clients. Establish operational workflows and project management systems that ensure the efficient execution of client engagements. Drive quality and operational efficiency initiatives in the business. Maintain accountability for financial performance, including budget management, profitability, and cost control. 3. Client Engagement and Business Development Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring satisfaction. Identify market opportunities and develop service offerings that address emerging needs in radiopharmaceutical research and development. Represent the organization at industry conferences, meetings, and events to promote visibility and thought leadership. 4. Team Building and Leadership Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, including internal staff and external consultants. Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Establish performance metrics and accountability measures to ensure the organizations success. Evaluate training needs and conduct performance reviews for direct reports. Qualifications: Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD) in a relevant field (radiopharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or biomedical sciences) and 15+ years of experience leading early-stage drug R&D projects in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and/or CRO industries with ideally experiences with radiopharmaceutical and/or oncology therapeutics. Proven success in building and scaling early-stage CRO organizations or business units. Strong expertise in pre-clinical development: ADME, PK/PD, toxicology, efficacy, early-stage animal models. Deep understanding of the broader radiopharmaceutical drug development lifecycle, including downstream clinical, and regulatory processes. Experience overseeing financial project management. Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate the complexities of a startup environment. Preferred Attributes: Established network within the radiopharmaceutical and broader biotech/pharma ecosystem. Experience with a consulting business model. Demonstrated thought leadership through publications, presentations, or professional contributions in the field.
