Job Title: Sound Designer Job Type: Intermittent Contract (Ad-Hoc) Location: Remote Role Overview: As a Sound Designer, you will be responsible for allocating, sourcing, and editing audio clips for various game interactions, using an existing sound FX library. You will work closely with the development team and be integrated into our pipeline on an ad-hoc basis, with no fixed schedule but increased demand during certain times of the year. Key Responsibilities: Audio Integration: Allocate and integrate sound effects into game interactions, using the existing sound FX library. Sound Sourcing and Editing: Source sound effects and perform editing as needed for various game events and player interactions. Voiceover Management: Edit and sync provided voiceover recordings, ensuring they align with gameplay interactions. Music Selection: Occasionally select and implement music, primarily from open-source libraries, as required for the game. Collaboration: Work closely with game developers to understand the design specs and prototype to ensure the audio enhances the player experience. Audio Tools Proficiency: Utilize sound editing software and game development platforms (e.g., Pixie Sound, Unity) to implement and optimize audio assets. Review and Feedback: Conduct periodic reviews of existing sound assets, ensuring quality and consistency across the game. Ideal Candidate: Experience in Game Audio: Familiar with the demands and workflows of game development, including audio integration in game engines. Sound Design Skills: Proficient in using sound editing programs to source, edit, and implement sound effects and voiceovers. Game Design Understanding: Ability to read design specs and prototypes to match audio elements with gameplay interactions. Collaborative Spirit: Comfortable working in a team environment, collaborating with developers, voice actors, and other stakeholders. Adaptability: Able to work on an intermittent basis, adjusting to peak times and lighter periods throughout the year. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in the gaming industry . A background in game sound design . A good understanding of game mechanics and how sound interacts with player experiences.
