Job Description

I. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Franchise Development Director will be located in Canada and will be responsible for a territory including Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Reporting to the National Director, Development, this role is responsible for recruiting new franchisees and hotel properties in the assigned territory into the Choice Hotels Canada system in a manner consistent with the development strategy. Please note that this job is home-office based and you must be legally entitled to work in Canada. II.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Engage in acquisition strategies to identify prospective franchisees, and proactively follow-up on new franchise expansion opportunities in a manner consistent with Choice Hotels Canada strategy. Implement strategies to secure franchisees within the targeted markets identified for growth. Consult with prospective franchisees on the benefits of joining the Choice system and the steps involved in becoming a Choice Hotels Canada franchise owner. Prepare proposal information for submission to the Executive Team and the Choice Hotels Canada shareholders in respect of the development of new-build or conversion properties, as well as re-licenses and brand re-positionings. Remain current and informed of all Choice Hotels operating practices, market trends, and industry conditions to provide necessary information and support to potential franchisees. Seek and share industry and market intelligence with peers, franchisees and corporate staff, recognizing trends, threats and opportunities. Exemplify, personify, and successfully communicate to peers, franchisees and corporate staff the business and ethical culture of Choice Hotels. Provide franchisee feedback to the National Director, Franchise Services. Perform related duties and/or responsibilities as required or assigned. III. SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE 10 years relevant experience in the hotel industry, business brokerage, franchising or a combination thereof. Must possess a strong knowledge of real estate in the assigned territory Skill and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook). Excellent communication and relationship development skills, using a high degree of tact, skill and diplomacy. Comfortable presenting to audiences in person and via virtual platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills. Strong time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Must be available and able to travel as required by the company. Must have a valid drivers license and passport. IV.
